    What do you believe?

This is probably the broadest question I have ever seen. However, I, will give it a try. I believe in God, the truth, true love and charity. I believe most people are basically honest, and I believe our national if not the entire world is going through a crisis that may take years or decades to resolve.

I believe in the constitution, but also believe that we have to re-examine it from time to time because of changing conditions.

I believe the United States, with all our problems, is still the best country in the world. There are lots of places I want to visit, but the United States will always be home.

Thanks for responding Larry.  Yes, it is a very broad question and I'm hoping we all get some very broad answers.  This does not have to be about religion.  How about UFOs or Democracy or Hauntings or Same Sex Marriage?  There is no wrong answer!

I agree there is no wrong answer. I just hope people respect the rights of other people to their beliefs, and your question does not turn into a debate about one topic. It is a very good question.

Carol, you are opening Pandora's Box with an open question like this one.  But, I am sure that you have thought about that.
I am a spiritual being. I do believe there is a higher power. I believe in the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We watch a show called "Ancient Aliens".  The series has run for three years on History 2 channel. Some of it is a little hard to believe. Most of it is harder not to believe.
I do believe there is an afterlife. There is so much that we do not understand and most likely will not understand until we cross over. My Mother and I were psychically in tune with one another. After she died, she came back and made
her presence known in nonthreatening ways. Most incidents were comical, and were without a doubt from her. Even my non believing husband had to admit it was my mother dropping by to say "Hello". I don't care if the readers believe me or not. I am not writing this to convince anyone. I am simply sharing.

Bill wrote a terrific hub called, "Never Stop Believing".  I say we can never stop
asking questions, either. History is written by those who win the war. Not by those who speak the truth.

Larry Wall wrote a beautiful summery. Like him, I believe in God, country and apple pie.

The USA is in a world of hurt, right now. I do not see her making a recovery to return to the glorious country that she once was. There are too many
sucking at the welfare teat. We cannot sustain the growing masses. What the government gives to one; it has been taken from another.

I hope this has been helpful.

Good luck on your hub, Carol.
    DJ.

I believe that everyone in the world is trapped within their own worlds and are unable to break free because other people's worlds are influencing them to follow the crowd and move in the same way as the others even if it leads them into a black hole.

If we are trapped in our own worlds but can still be influenced by other people's worlds then maybe we're not so trapped after all.

I believe this world we live in is in serious trouble due to the greed and immorality of man.  I also believe we have dug a very deep hole for ourselves that will be difficult to fill.  Life is very hard, but I think we make it harder than it needs to be.  We have lost our trust in one another for a variety of reasons, and regaining it will be a major task.  I have lived a long time and have never seen the world is such disarray.  Shame on all of us for letting it get this way!

Well, I believe in the soul, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

I believe the world is an orchestra, and we are the notes.  Making our song as we go; leaving behind our imprint as we move from measure to measure.  I may be the cello, you may be the sax.  We all have our part and we are all important to the picture, as we work in unison creating the symphony that is our life.

I believe that society as we know it is going to collapse - and that this collapse probably be the only thing that can save the mankind at this point. I believe that we've probably passed the point of no return and can no longer fix what's wrong with the world.
I believe that everyone should treat everyone else with kindness. I believe that people who hurt children and animals should have the same abuse inflicted upon them as punishment.
I believe in reincarnation, and that we keep coming back until we've learned the lessons we need to learn to evolve and move to the next level. I believe in ghosts. I believe that there are things that happen that simply can not be explained.
(I wish I'd see an unmistakable sign proving the existence of a "God" of some sort so that I could say that I believe there IS a "God". But right now, in all honesty, I can't say I believe that at all. I'm sorry.)

Sometimes I cry over the way the world is. I believe in God and wait for him to either end the world or at least scare us into believing in Him more deeply.

I think it is a part of spiritual progression when we reach the point that it is ok not to have a concrete definition of God. Some people stop there and let life inform their ethic and their joy inspire their hope.

I believe life is a personal journey.
Each of us is responsible for our own happiness.
Our lives are for the most part the result of the choices and decisions we made along the way.
Each of us gets to choose our own friends, lovers, and spouse. (No one is "stuck" with anyone)
We have the ability to learn from our mistakes and make better choices for ourselves in the future.
Living is about learning, evolving, and making the most of our time on this planet while leaving it a little better than it was when we got here even if the difference you made was only in one person's life.

I believe that everything evolves physical matter, things of the spiritual realm, social realm, and the whole of creation. Evolution is the constant state of creation ongoing . It is not always straight forward and can not always be judged by human ethical systems of reasoning. Unfortunately it is more of a two steps back and step forward process. But progress is always the mark of God who is the one who is present and blesses us with the process. With out ongoing creation we would have nothing but darkness and purposeless decay to look forward too. I have no proof that we as individuals evolve somehow in an afterlife. This gives value to lessons learned in this life.

Thanks for your answer Rebecca.  I admit, I have not given much thought to social evolution.  I hope the world is just in an 'awkward' phase and we are all on our way to a more spiritual existence.

I believe that over the last few decades things have changed and people have also evolved/changed.  While some of the changes have been bad, there are some good changes as well.  We are seeing more technology play significant roles in our lives and for some people this is a negative thing.  However, if we learn to adapt and not abuse things we do not have to let it rule our lives.  I also believe in a higher power and when things get rough, it doesn't hurt to trust in God to take care of what ills us.
