Has online dating worked out for you?

Yes! I met my wife online. Prior to that my last relationship which lasted 7 years came about from meeting online. It's not where you meet but whom you meet that counts. The same people that are online go to the grocery store, movie theatre, beach, park, nightclubs, shopping malls, and church.
Online dating is nothing more than another option or (tool) for meeting others. Much like a fork it can be used to eat a garden salad or a slice of double fudge chocolate cake. However I have never heard of an overweight person blame their weight gain on a fork! And yet people blame their bad dating experiences on the Internet/online dating. We make our own choices.
Avoid free or super cheap dating websites; they tend to attract the shadiest people. Selecting a “free” online site is like moving into an economically depressed section of town and complaining about the high crime rate. If you know what type of person you’re looking for your next step is to find out which sites they are likely to join. There are numerous niche online dating sites as well. Research pays dividends. Be selective! Awhile back I wrote a hub offering tips for women but they are just as valid for men. Best of luck! http://dashingscorpio.hubpages.com/hub/ … ine-Dating

DashingScorpio, Yeah, I met my wife online as well. It took me a year and a half, but it was worth the wait. You make a great point by saying online dating is just an option or tool for meeting others. Also, it is wise to avoid the free online sites

Not too well, but of course, I have been married for almost 33 years and my wife  and I both agree, that once is enough. I have never even checked out an online dating site.

The closest I got was a computerized dating program when I was in college. I got matched with three young ladies, one of who I already knew. We went out once and knew we could be friends but not a couple. The other two did, which everyone probably did, and looked up my picture in the yearbook. Both stood me up.

I called one up, trying to pretend that I was detained and apologize for not meeting at the pre-set time and place. Her reply was, "Oh. You didn't show up either?"

On-line dating may work, if the people are truthful in what they write about themselves.  I was very fortunate that my best friend arranged a blind date for the person who became my wife. We met in July of 1979 and were married one year and one week later. I cannot imagine spending my life with any other person.

No need to check out a dating site in your case. Me neither, since I met my wife on there. Just curious on other people's stories and experiences with online dating. It's probably better if you don't have to go on these sites.

It worked for me. I joined a dating site after divorce just to see how it wors, I was lucky to meet my husband online. Online dating is quite a controversial subjec, some people blame it for scam, for meeting wrong people, and some people are successfully use it and moreover find their matches online. So i guess it depends on your desire to find a date and on your luck.

That's cool that you met your husband on there. You are one of the lucky one's like myself who found their spouse online. It's more common nowadays to meet people online, and I don't think it's such a big deal like it used to be.
