   What are some songs about famous people?
   
   I plan on composing a hub about songs about famous people. I already have a few in mind, but I thought I would see if anyone was aware of any songs about famous people that they would like to share.

   Candle in the Wind by Elton John was a tribute to Marilyn Monroe.
   
   Taylor Swift's 'I knew you were trouble' is about her ex-boyfriend and One Direction band member Harry Styles.

      Candle in the Wind is the first song that came to my mind! I heard this song hundreds of times before I caught on :-)
      It seems to be a fitting song for many doesn't it?

      "Candle In the Wind" is one of the songs that I am already considering. I will also try to consider the Swift suggestion with a open mind (but it will be tough).

   "Man on the Moon" by R.E.M is about/a tribute to Andy Kaufman, which I didn't realize until after seeing the movie by the same name starring Jim Carrey.

      I love that song, but it totally escaped my mind when I started to compile my initial list. That is why I asked the question! Thanks for reminding me of that song and I will seriously consider it for the Hub!

      Ooh ooh, you totally should; R.E.M was huge when I was growing up, but in a different than "Poster Boy" kind of way. That song is really cool!

   There are a few.  Most of them turn into folk songs.
   
   John Henry was a steel driving man was about a semi mythic folktale about man versus technology and progress.
   
   My most memorable one was "Abraham, Martin, and John" sung by Dion about Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, and JFK.
   
   I know that there are others, but most of the ones I'm thinking about are for fictional characters.  Superman, Tom Joad and others like that.

      Thanks for the excellent suggestions. Thanks for also giving me a possible future hub idea. Songs about Fictional Characters. I could also possibly write a hub concerning songs about Superman. There were definitely a number of those.

   Jackie Wilson Said by Van Morrison is about soul singer Jackie Wilson. Nightshift by The Commodores is a tribute to many R&B legends (Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, and so on).
   Photograph by Def Leppard is about the unobtainable lore of Marilyn Monroe. There's a few to start but I can think of more.
