Are you comfortable eating snails and if so, how do you like them to be cooked?
The answer to your question is yes I eat snails but they have to be cleaned and handled in the right way but if I am cooking them I like them sautéed in garlic butter, white wine, or chicken stock they are so good this way.
I confess I have not been brave enough to try them yet. I Guess that the strong flavors added to them make them taste of something! Thanks for the comment Handicapped Chef.
You have to remember almost everything you cook or eat you add some kind of ingredient to boost the taste this I just the same way it's adding flavor to the dish your cooking.
You are so right Handicapped Chef - that was very short sighted of me - yes those little 'slime balls' will need some special kind of ingredient before I try them. No disrespect meant. Thanks for the comments.
I would not eat snails (but then again there's a whole lot of things I won't eat LOL). I don't think I've ever ever seen a snail in real life. (I suppose that tells people how much gardening I do. )
No, I don't eat snails, although I have once. I just think of them as pests in the garden. I grew up in a area with a lot of garden snails and they were so slimy, I can't eat snails without thinking about that.
Guess you have been brave enough to try it once! Thinking of all that slime makes it a definite no, no for me I am afraid. I do not think anyone could persuade me to eat one duffsmom. Thanks for your comment.
I couldn't do it now! ICK. I was a teenager and as I recall I swallowed it whole and then asked for water - quick! LOL
Not sure that swallowing is eating but I am with you there duffsmon! You are a lot braver than I am - not sure I could do it unless there were something great at stake - ha Thanks for your comments.
The snail is not a problem in and of itself. It simply is lacking in natural flavor. I suppose the optimal method of serving is broiled with drawn garlic butter on the side for lubrication and flavor.
One can't imagine why people bother if they have to eat garlic and butter in order to make them taste good! If we were short of protein on the universe then it might be a useful addition to the diet! Thanks Jim TXMiller, appreciate your stopping by
Well, you see it was a biology club dinner way back in high school, and our adviser had a several exotic (to American palates) prepared for us to sample, snails among them. Have not ate them since.
Snails is not on my list of foods to try i see them in the garden with there slimy body's and taste like dirt.
Snails are definitely not on my list of foods either and fortunately I don't see too many of them in the garden. I think they have to be fed in a particular way to clean out their insides before you consume them so garden snails are out! Thanks you.

Why do most people eat more cooked food than raw food? Most people gravitate to cooked food (over raw food) without thinking about it. What is the reason for this among people - both in a general sense and specific to you.

Does stuffing get cooked before stuffing it in the turkey? So it's my first Thanksgiving cooking the turkey. Does the stuffing get cooked before stuffing it in the turkey, or do I just get it moist with the butter and onions before putting it in?

Is it really worth it to cook for just one and if so do you have some recipes to prove it?Cooking for just one (not including the dogs) sometimes just seems like it's not worth it. Although I would love to have some homemade lasagna, meatballs, stuffed pork chops, (ok I have to stop now I'm...

Do you prefer to cook your own meals or go out to eat?I enjoy cooking evening meals, but too often I hear people complain that they don't have the time to cook. They would rather spend an hour or more in a restaurant. Does that not take time? Which do you prefer - cooking or dining out - and why?

I've heard a lot lately about eating "raw" foods and how healthy it is supposed to be. Does anyone know about this and how you'd begin?

Do you eat out more than cook at home?Nothing is better than a home cooked meal, many people choose to eat out for convenience and miss that family time spent at the dinner table.
