If you were to give up a modern luxury, what would it be and why?
We are certainly spoiled. We have cars, water heaters, microwaves, mowers, tractors, grocery stores - the list goes on! If you were to get rid of one or more of these things, what would be the first to go?
The internet. It would be hard, there would be withdrawal, but in the long run I think I would be better off.
I will like to leave the luxury of Cars and will like to travel by foot or bicycle saving fuel and energy for future generations, improving health naturally, getting rid of pollution, global warming, socializing with people while in the open, save natural resources for better uses, making the powerful politicians, bureaucrats and leaders feel like common man and above all to get rid of accidents to check loss of innocent lives.
I could easily give up my cell phone. I refuse to cave and spend a couple hundred bucks on a bitchen "smart" phone. (Who am I kidding? If I'd have had the money, I would've gotten a damn iPhone... most definitely.) However, I'm unemployed and broke, and I have an antique flip phone. I rarely even talk on it. It's mostly an alarm clock and a low resolution camera that takes pretty decent pics.
As long as I've got my e-mail, I'm great!
What would I give up? I could definitely live without a tractor since I have no need for one. The one thing that I think I could give up would be television. I rarely have the time, and there are so many other things to do to occupy one's mind.
Hairstyling tools - Hairdryer and Straightening iron would be the easiest modern luxuries for me to give up because I could get by without them.
If I was to give up a luxury it would be my laptop and television because I don't watch television much because I am always on my laptop and I tend to go off socialising because I am addicted to hubbing and networking that I spend more time and days off indoors instead of going out to meet people or friends.
Television. A lot of what's on it today is contrived, formulaic, cow-towing and "lowest common denominator". I would not miss it too terribly. Not as long as I have my beloved WBUR/'NPR.
I would have to say cars. I walk everywhere, so it wouldn't do too much damage.
Good question. For me it would be plastic containers for water and beverages. Glass is recyclable and better for the earth. Besides, I detest seeing people carry around bottled waters just in order to make everyone else think they are super conscientious about their health. Pathetic!

Are you intimidated by someone with a higher education than you?Do you feel dumber, that you can't compete or just insecure that they know more than you?

Do you include a copyright notice in your articles? Why or why not?I never do this, but I see that a lot of folks on here do. Just wondering what the opinions are out there.

PhoenixV wrote a hub with this title, and concluded that the answer is Led Zeppelin, for various reasons.I countered that the Beatles were most influential because they wrote their own songs, something almost unheard of at the time, and that this changed bands forever by removing the songwriters...

You hear a voice cry for help, would you help or call for help? Why or why not?How many cries of help go heard but unhelped? In todays society no one wants to be a witness to any sort of madness.
