Have you noticed a sharp drop in the number of new articles by hubbers that you follow?

Every day my Recent Notifications email comes through and I see less and less new hubs being written by the hubbers that I follow. I know that many writers are unhappy with recent changes to the site, and wondered if this Is this a trend across the whole site?
One advantage, however, is that I was able to read and comment on every new hub today, where as in the past there were always too many to get through!

I have to be honest.  Most days I feel like I'm alone here, talking to myself.  I'm a hub hog.  While there are a few that I come across daily and really appreciate conversing with, my notifications aren't working.  The feed rarely shows any new hubs.  I have to physically go to each person I am following to see if they've written anything new.  When I first started here a couple of months ago, it did seem more of a hopping place.

Hi Crafty, the notifications thing hasn't been working for ages, I rely on my daily email from HP to get my notifications. Do you get this email? If not I think you can set it up in your account settings.

That makes sense.   It would be more convenient if the notifications worked for me.  I'm glad I'm not the only one though.  I thought it was just me that wasn't getting notifications.

I've only noticed it within the past few days. I don't know if people are writing less or I'm just not getting the notifications as fast.

In fact, just a few days ago I said the very same thing.  So, Yes I've noticed a drop in new hubs.  It could be that with school starting up again people are left with less time to write.  Not sure what the answer is.

I have noticed changes in my views for a while now, in my hubscore as well.

Yes, there is definitely a drop in the number of new hubs being published.
Many of the hubbers, whom I follow are no longer active. I think some have moved to other sites as well. Although their account is there. When I go and check their profile to see, what they have published latest, very few seem to be writing new hubs.
I think they are disappointed with decreased traffic and earnings as well.
Another reason might be that  most of the hubbers are constantly busy in updating their earlier hubs, to prevent them from being de-indexed. As such they may not be finding time to write new hubs.

I think you have summed up the reasons very well smile

Since the sharp drop in traffic, many hubbers didn't see any need in writing new hubs that won't get traffic. It takes time to put one hub together, with the images,  paragraphs etc. Why spend all that time when you'll only get a dozen view on it.

I wrote a new hub over a week ago, and though it doesn't seem to be getting much traffic, I know that eventually, it will. And yes, many do write on other sites where they get more for writing less. I do too.

Yes, I've seen a drop in long, informative hubs. However, I get lots a poetry hubs in my feed. I think it's easier to publish a poetry hub without a lot of research and added capsules. As some have already said, the lack of traffic has decreased motivation to write and/or work too hard for nothing. I published a hub today after almost a month. I'm hopeful that traffic will return and my evergreen, informative hub will be ready to receive it.

Hi Imogen--I have noticed that there weren't many hubs written this summer, and I was on a long overseas trip this summer so I actually didn't write any myself.  However, my own Hub views are way up and so are my earnings compared to last year.  I'm personally pleased with the direction HubPages is going but I do understand that it takes patience to wait until those views come in.
