How do you learn to love yourself?
It is often said that if you don't love yourself, you can't love anyone else. How do you learn to love yourself and how do we teach our children to learn to love themselves.
You have to know yourself and take care of yourself in ways that no one else can. Loving yourself involves forgiving yourself and unconditionally accepting yourself just the way you are.
There is no way for us to love ourselves without the experience of being loved. We don't know what true, sustaining love is outside of receiving the love of God for each of us.
When we experience God's love for us, we can then love ourselves, because we understand the unselfish nature of love.
That's true. The best way is to learn to be honest with yourself, and accept your good and not-so-good qualities, so you can provide true nurturing to yourself and not be fake about it like most people are.
You learn to love yourself by accepting yourself. It must be unconditional. This allows for improvements. Loving yourself is the master key to self esteem and joy. In the world we live in, people do not hold back their negative opinions, bad behavior and rude attitudes. Therefore, the best defense is to love yourself regardless of everybody that exists and ever did exist. People will gladly dump their negative suggestions and hostility on others, not only from today, but from centuries ago. Loving one's self completely nullifies all external negative suggestions and attitudes. Everybody has the right to love who they are, be happy and enjoy their life regardless of what anybody else on the planet thinks of them. Those who don't love themselves will live a life mixed with emotional pain and misery because they are too dependent on the love from others. The love from others comes and goes, and sometimes it's never there at all.
You can only love yourself if you like yourself first. In other words if you're doing things that make you think that you're a terrible person then you're not going to love yourself. You'll loathe yourself. If however you are trying very hard to do well, improve, or help others the boost in pride will go a long way. Self acceptance and love comes from the knowledge that you are the best version of you that you could be right now. Teaching your children this is as easy as teaching them to positively engage with others and be proud of their positive accomplishments.
I learned to love myself from growing years. I was always praised about my appearance, and personality. When you are loved by our parents and are confident about your life and decisions you feel good about yourself. You need a high self-esteem to feel on top of things. To love yourself you must first gain what makes you feel proud and intelligent. It comes from within. The gradual acceptance of life begins from your childhood years.
Begin by thinking of Conscience as nothing other than the voice of God. There is an inner Pilot inside you, guiding you all the time. Learn to listen. It is a simple philosophy that if we do not have we cannot give, but sometimes we give too much and consequently weaken ourselves as a result.
We are body and Spirit. The Soul has to be fed in the same way that we feed the body, even more. If we leave home without prayer a.m., we begin with a negative and as soon as the first problem comes, we will go further into the minus zone.
Never do anything that makes you weak. Always walk from a lesser Light to a greater Light, and not the other way around. If you are asked to go out with the girls and you feel that you will be tempted, then stay at home.
Self-love is very strong. We wish to be loved and appreciated, and so we sometimes try so hard that it weakens us. So Self first means coming to terms with the inner Voice and abiding by it's dictates, even when it seems to be different from our friends or even children.
Ask your children to love, to walk towards God and away from evil, to do the things that gives then joy and stay away from sorrow. Always give a rationale and remind them of the laws of karma. Cosmic laws will work in such a way as to give us what we put out. So you will reap a bumper crop if your harvesting is good, and a bad crop if you neglect your manure and to water the plants. Hope all this helps.
Above all, acknowledge that you are weak, and rely on God. You are His instrument, not the other way around.

How should we love and care for others? Should we love them more than we love ourself or should we mind our business first?!

Being a Christian, means being a follower of Jesus Christ. Not so? Does this means a Christian has to be a martyr, willing to DIE emotionally or physically in order for others to live, or to have a better life?In a marriage, should/may/must a Christian wife allows her husband to abuse her (and her...
