One feels bad about these videos that have come out about Acorn the last few days. You hate to see an desalinization that helps people have a few bad apples.....or I guess a few bad Nuts, that make the whole desperation look bad. If you view the full tapes you can see that there not all that fox news makes them out to be, It seems they took a clip cut lesson from Mr. Jon Stewart, but he only does satire not Network news! Either way these employees were in the wrong but do you believe the whole "Tree" of Acorn is bad. or just a few "Nuts"?
Well, the tapes are from four different offices. Two are on the east coast and two on the west coast, which leads one to believe it's at least a wide spread problem. Honestly, it's hard to believe that anyone could take these two seriously. I mean did you see how the "pimp" was dressed? He looked like he was right out of a bad 70's movie.
...and when he said, "We will be expecting about 13 El Salvadorian girls that we want to keep off the books", the Acorn worker didn't even blink. It was like this sort of scenario plays out on a daily basis. How many white "Huggy Bears" come in there looking for this same type of service? I was truly alarmed.
I have done outreach work with sex workers, and I can tell you the pimps dress much nicer than the prosititutes they exploit.
I'm sure you'd agree that there are various levels of "pimps" out there. Heck some of them might be pretty good businessmen, but they choose to engage in the sex trade. Likewise there are real scumbags out there who do exploit their women and use physical and mental coercion techniques to keep them in line. And yes, I'm sure there are those who dress just like a pimp from a bad 70's movie.
The thing that surprised me was how seriously the ACORN workers took these kids. That speaks volumes about the nature of an organization and the values it holds. There are two types of mission statements that define an organization. The first one is the one they write up and make sound all nice and PC. Then there's the real mission statement. That one is not so clear and you can only understand it if you look at what the company does. That tells you the true nature of a company and their culture (or lack thereof). I think we all know what ACORN's true culture is like.
The tape was pretty self evident. Those workers were way too comfortable with the situation to not have dealt with the likes of it before.
Facts have been in for a loooong time, unless you are a Democrat then you will never see the truth!
Whole tree!
whole tree...ACORN has been a part and parcel of the whole political machine that is behind Obama and where he comes from.
I believe when people castes their votes, that was the machine that was behind Obama
Well ain't that PC? You're going to make me be sarcastic and I'll have to call you a name. Does your mother know you're on the computer? Look sweetie bad behavior is bad behavior, period. President Obamas ties to Acorn are proven and undisputable. You're trying and doing a poor job to try and cover-up what everyone knows, give it up! Find another cause!
I was stating that The people voted for Obama. That being said I am against Acorn, the corruption on tax money and peoples dollar is inexcusable I hope everyone is aware of that and i am sure they are. Obama needs to have Acorn investigated, Acorn needs to be cleaned out, and scrapped. Obama on the other hand is the president, was not voted in by acorn, Heck my state doesn't even have Acorn in it.
How many fraudulent signatures did ACORN collect on behalf of the DNC? Obama is up to his neck in this and all evidence of a relationship between them should be investigated!
How many Governors of the state of Florida were there in 2000? 1. How many republican judges were in the district of recount in Florida? All but 2. How come They wouldn't recount the last district of florid a, how come the guy running for president had a brother that was the govern of the state that was the deciding state, and he had the judges end the recount? You want to talk about fraud, you must be kidding.
It was planned that the recount that Gore asked for would be in Florida? Gore never one a single count or recount, how long was it supposed to go on? Long enough to find every chad with a mark on it? Clueless! Gore was entitled to a statewide recount which he received and still lost, he then with the aid of the DNC went to court and picked heavily Democratic counties to look for hanging/mustard stained/slobbered on chads. The count never went his way.
Yes are you mental it does go on that's the point of RECOUNT, and the constitutional right of EVERY VOTE COUNTS, Duh, don't be form TEXAS where they scream about constitutional rights, then threaten to leave the union then my rights this then no federal spending then send us money for hurricane relief, then stop spending money then we need more money for border control. Any ways your clearly form Texas, you believe your better than America, so I'm done because unless god comes down in 4x4 and tells you otherwise you will vote for anything that's RED, Plays football, or stops by on Fox News and tells you this bad....us no likey.....yell at it
Gore won the initial count... Bush asked for a recount. Go back to watching Fox news you ignorant Texan.
Now junior! Mind your manners before you open that pie-hole.
He actually may want to read about things he comments on before he opens his pie hole. Funny History classes in California!
You may want to educate yourself before you make yourself look dumber than you already do!
"Bush won the election night vote count in Florida by a little over 2,000 votes. Florida state law provided for an automatic recount due to the small margins. There were general concerns about the fairness and accuracy of the voting process, especially since a small change in the vote count could change the result. The final official Florida count gave the victory to Bush by 537 votes, making it the tightest race of the campaign (at least in percentage terms; New Mexico was decided by 363 votes but has a much smaller population, meaning those 363 votes represent a 0.061% difference while the 537 votes in Florida are just 0.009%). Most of the reduction in the ensuing recount came from Miami-Dade county alone, a statistical anomaly."
Look heres the deal you become president and you better lose your feelings because it's going to come hard and fast. President Obama is president he was voted in by the people so the people only have themselves to blame for the drama.
Oh you mean people like Mickey Mouse? Are those the voters who got Obama in? Wrong is wrong. Or do you really support tax dollars going to tax evading, human trafficking prostitutes engaged in underage sex trade? Perhaps you'd like to see our tax dollars go to opening crack houses on street corners all over America?
I don't really think that the American people wanted that when they voted for "Change".
I believe you seem to be misinformed or watch to much fox news, especially with an uneducated statement such as Mickey Mouse as a characterization of the American public that voted out the republicans in the House, senate, and Executive office. I am not supporting trafficking prostitutes! I am not supporting Acorn!
Did you support Bush? Then you must support DUI's since he has two of them. You must support cocaine since he admitted to doing it back in the 80's. Political politicians get backing that does not always make them look good, such as the bush campaign backed by the saudis, that looks bad but i don't think he planned 9/11,But I don't assume that of you because I have a little more Sense then that, maybe you should should too.
And I believe you're a shill for the left wing of the Democratic party. For someone who says they don't support ACORN, you sure are spending a lot of time defending them. Could it be because your golden boy, Obama, is up to his neck in it with ACORN. Or did he not offer to give "community organizations" a seat at the table when he assumed the Presidency? As for uneducated, some of the ACORN shills that were making up names, you know so they could make more money, used Mickey Mouse and other names to pad their voter registration numbers. Who's uneducated now? I'd be less critical of Fox, out of all of the major news outlets only they covered the Van Jones and ACORN stories. It's no wonder you think like you do.
Why do you assume I supported Bush? Just because I don't support Obama? I'm not so sure you're as clever as you think you are. The world is not so cut and dried as Republican vs Democrat. Neither party has the interests of the country as a whole in mind, they just shill for votes. The good news is that people are finally waking up. One enough people see the political party system for what it is, then we'll really see change. Now that, I can believe in.
I do support DUI. And I do support cocaine. Yet I never supported Bush. Your logic is flawed.
At least they didn't throw out thousands of votes to win florida..... it would have been a landslide with or without acorn.
A few bad apples spoils the whole bunch. I was disgusted when I saw how the Acorn employees behaved. It is inexcusable. They acted like this sort of thing happens all the time.
I expect this sort corruption from organizations like this, right or left it makes no difference. But the blatant way in which this was done, well I'm sure Abramoff could have given ACORN some pointers on how to better fleece the American public. Oh wait, he was found out too, wasn't he?
You make a good point, but the fact is still disheartening.
The trick to understanding all of this is to ask one simple question: Who benefits? When you apply that to most things the government does, it turns out that politicians and their cronies benefit, not America as a whole. The Constitution was set up to restrict the power of a central government for a reason. If you really want to fix things and make them better, we need to enforce those restrictions. Corruption happens because the government meddles in the economy. Take the government out of the economy and you'd see the effects of corruption lessen, perhaps vanish entirely.
But doesn't some of the blame fall on the corporations that, in essence, employ the politicians.
Think about what sorts of things the radical wing of the Democratic party is doing. Wouldn't you as a businessperson, support their enemies in the hopes that you could stymie their plans? It's a defense mechanism. That's why the German business class and Italian business class supported guys like Hitler and Mussolini. We almost had that sort of thing happen here with the Blue Eagle. Google it sometime.
It's also a trap. Radical right wing parties used this fear of communism to set up their own economic system that was just as socialist, it just used corporations as their beneficiaries rather than the "workers" that communism favored. Either way business and politics become corrupted. Business becomes trapped by government because government can choose to shut them down at any time by passing laws. In return for letting them do business, politicians get the money the need to campaign and stay in power. Meanwhile the real "owners" of America are forgotten.
You are a wise man. I find myself more and more enlightened by your posts the more I read. Do you feel that greed is playing a bigger part in government than ever before? Or, is it just more out in the open?
It's becoming more and more noticeable, I think. That may have something to do with the revolution in communications technology that's taking place right now:
http://mises.org/story/3060
The site is currently having problems, but the article is a good one that talks about the role of things like fax machines and the Internet that dictators and tyrants have a hard time dealing with. There must be some truth to the old hacker adage that information wants to be free.
Make no mistake. Government is about greed. That's what Washington meant when he said that government is a feared servant and fearless master.
Just another example of a well intended organization being hi-jacked by the left wing radicals. Maybe...or maybe it was an organization created by a bunch of left wing radicals. In either case this tree is ready for the aborist. He may well be the planter of said tree. Don't be fooled, this tree is coming down and it will be the left that does it. Watch closely though, something with a whole new look, but the same old root system will replace it. The same old song and dance, mistaking movement for action.
Fell the tree, burn the stump, rake up the nuts, grind'em into meal.
isn't this the biggest problem in the US right now. Special interest groups taking huge amounts of public money to accomplish their goals. I think ACORN needs to go. No more public money for them.
They all need to go. All special interests benefit their sliver of the population. All the government should concern itself with is dealing with foreign powers and fraud. Period.
Is Bush the only rebutle? I for one am glad Bush is out of office, no hurricanes this year.
I can see The Bumpersticks ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a DEM!!!!!!!!!!!
I SUPPORT ACORN AND HUMAN SLAVERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There Goes 010 DOWN THE TUBES!!!!!!!!!!
ROFL
Grind them up, bake them, then feed them to the birds....Acorn Pie sounds good.
Hard to make excuses for their behavior.
Is ACORN going to be Obama's Whitewater?
Or more akin to Cheney's Halliburton?
My point -- every administration has these bad seeds. They may not all do the same thing but serve similar purposes in the minds of Americans. To discredit the sitting president (or VP).
MM, ACORN is the neocon analog of the Democratic party. Much like conservatives were betrayed by the neocons, so too were the liberals betrayed by the far left. Each radical wing has their own agenda and that is not the agenda of most of the American people.
In a way this has come about because the government has arrogated too much power to itself and cannot possibly exercise that power to benefit even the majority, they can only benefit a splinter of their supporters. Meanwhile everyone else can go hang. Surely there is a better way to do things.

Let's face it "Hilary for President" gets the Republican base buzzing like no other. We all know that the Benghazi Committee's specific purpose is to go after her and rip her competency to shreds. Then there is the big, bogus email fraud sting. I can see that she is a strong person and a...

Here's the deal - it sure seems like Pres. Obama has been spending a lot of time fundraising lately. And since he can't run again - it must be for the Democrat Party and its candidates.Well, every president does this as elections approach, right? But, does every president do it during very public...

How did President Obama get the scar on his skull?A few times over the last months when the President is on television I've noticed a scar on his skull. A friend suggested he may have had an accident in his youth but I haven't heard about any accident he experienced so am still curious. Does anyone...

Is former president Obama a hypocrite when it comes to wealth? He and his wife Michelle have earned their many millions fairly using the capitalistic system. I do wonder why does he no longer speak the same way about the wealthy? There was a time when former president Obama had...
