A nasty spam phone caller - what's a good zinger to give them?

I received another spam phone solicitation today from a caller with the number ID 000-0000. Although we have attempted to block this "number" many times, they always manage to get through eventually. This time, in addition to the bogus script they were following in broken English, there were noises in the background that let me know they were either playing a porn video too loud or they were calling from a brothel. I yelled, "DON'T CALL BACK" and hung up, but later wondered if I shouldn't find a zinger response for these jerks that would leave them too scared to ever call again? Any ideas?

Just ignore them and hang the phone up, or even better never answer the call in the first place.

I always use "Don't call me, I'll call you" and hang up. Then don't call them.

    Two things come to mind.

I started receiving spam calls from a man that was propositioning a business deal.  Somehow he had both mine and my husband's cell numbers.  We were able to block his calls through the phone provider.

The second scenario is a scam warned about by the federal government.  It involves calls that come in to a cell phone that can appear to be by local numbers but are actually coming in from overseas.  When they call and you answer or call the number back from caller ID, your account gets charged per minute for long-distance.  So the advisory warning is to not answer and not call back.

I don't know if either situation applies in your case, but I think the best thing to do would be to report it to your phone company and ignore it.

Thanks for the heads up, Crafty. Geesh, if these spammers expend a lot of energy into getting money for nothing.

How about, "The police have been notified of this call and they are on the way." and hang up on them?

I usually don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number and figure if it's important, they'll leave a voicemail. And as crafty said, there's that weird scam going on, so that's even more reason not to answer. But if you do and they try to sell you something, throw it back at them. Start into your sells pitch. I always talk over them and tell them about my books. If you don't have anything you're actually selling, make something up. Tell them about your newest invention they just can't live without. They usually stop calling you because they don't want to hear about whatever you're selling.

Say "Hold on let me get a pen"... then walk away leaving the phone down until they hang up.  This works great, except not advisable if you are on a Cell and paying for your own minutes.

Or when you say let me get a pen you could just hang up.

I usually tell them I am late to  bankruptcy court, or the Misses is out of the country, or the Gentleman of the house is in prison. When they try to get me to get their credit card I ask them do you have this one? Shocks them! Then I start asking them what their income is, who they work for, how long, if they are married. It is so funny, they usually hang up.
