Are you doing today, what you dreamed of doing when you were a child?

When we were children, we dreamed of what we would do when we grow up.  Now that we are grown, are we doing what we dreamed of or something different?

When I was a child I wanted to be a sanitation worker.  In the good ole days, before political correctness butted into our lives, we just called them garbage men.  Throughout most of my childhood I was convinced that I wanted to be a garbage man.  In the summer time they hung off the back of the big trucks and all the kids would wave at them.  They were the coolest guys around.  Unfortunately I never made it on to the big truck.

I'm doing some of the things I dreamed about. But I dreamed of so many.

My dream of being an artist I accomplished in the 1970s and 1980s, even doing graphics for movies.

Now, I'm a writer. My first story I wrote at age 8. Now, I've published 2 novels, 1 anthology and 3 non-fiction books.

Next, I'm looking forward to owning my own starship. Know any good deals on used interstellar vehicles?

I always wanted to be Roald Dahl. I'm aware now that that would be impossible, but I'm writing, and that was part of the dream. So yes, I am, and I hope I will be for the foreseeable future!

When I was a child I dreamed of being a shepherd boy in Israel like in Testament times. It was literally a dream! Weird dream.  Nope, guess not.  Maybe that's my true calling in life! Thanks for the reminder!
