Do you believe in fate?
they used to say, if you are humble enough, nothing can touch you neither praise or discouragement because you know who you are. yes if you do know your clarity is good but eventually there is always a fullstop in everything. I didn't believe that things are fated untill I have to accept the fact that we cant hope to have faith. generally, im the corner person and whenever I want to achieve something there's always something in between. well I guess, if a thing is not fated to be, dont try to force it.... its so hard to say goodbye to my dreams because all replaced by silence.
The question is tied to whether or not you have free will. What you have is LIMITED free will. In other words, determinism is wrong; but the notion that there isn't a template for you, me, everyone and everything which could go slightly to "either side" is wrong too.
You should watch this short video by astrophysicist Michio Kaku for more of an explanation.

I guess you were saying indeterminism. if our actions are caused by chance, we dont have control in that which we cant call as freewill. but we all seems to have natural inclination to believe in determinism bcoz experience always appear to support i
I believe in fate because I have planned many times how I want to live my life but there is always something that messes it up. I still believe that if you want something in life, you can get it through determination and hard work. There is always challenges along the way that could alter your plans but that's life.
to be really living I think we have to be broken. in the sense that, we have to be tempered by thousands blows. but sometimes we have to get used to not expecting things.
I believe there are things outside of ourselves that are beyond our control, but ultimately what we do is up to our will and determination. Those who want something badly enough will find a way to get it. I don't mean just "want" - but who feel compelled to be something specific. No matter what happens that little voice is still in there pushing...
For example, I always wanted to write and freelance for a living and have a simple life in an older home etc. I'm an artistic, creative introverted type and want to be left to my own devices lol.
I felt that wasn't "practical" enough when I was younger, so I spent years in the corporate rat race, working hard to get promoted and get bigger paychecks. After all, we're programmed to believe that all that hard work is how we get ahead and to compete, and get those bigger paychecks etc. I hated every job I had. Every promotion I'd think "this is it, I'll be more satisfied now". Within a short time, I was miserable, but was doing what I "thought" I "should" be doing to get ahead. etc.
It took many miserable, awful experiences to get me to finally have the guts to say Enough! This is my life and I'm tired of wasting it doing what I hate to make other people rich. I quit and never looked back. Today, I work as a freelancer and when I'm not doing that I am fixing up the old house I always wanted . When there is a fire in you - an absolute purpose you feel drawn to - you will find it, or suffer trying to resist it.
I don't need piles of cash or to compete with the Jones' etc. I eventually came back to the simpler, creative life I was "fated" to have. Do I believe in "fate" - yes and no. I do believe we create our own destiny based on how we respond to events in our life and that goes against the notion of "fate".
love your words ChristinS. I knew how I wanted to feel like home. I always cringe at the thought of wanting and needing that will eventually bring everything in place. I never understood the will of heaven or fate. In my belief, I start everything fr
Hey Christin S took the words right out of my mouth, & now add on this question.Would whoever created us just let us loose with an eternal body, or would they give us a "trial run" first just to see what sort of person we become?..Too obvious?. :
Fate is funny. IMHO, firstly, fate is a process and a principle. It is not a result. Fate leads toward a result or away from it. The question is are conditions placed upon fate? If conditions are placed upon fate, which limits fate, then can fate occur? Surely then fate is no longer of purity.
Statement A: We did (or, did not do) something.
Statement B: That is fate - a principle.
Statement C: That is because of fate - a process.
Another question is fate reasonable?
A football coach of both Texas A&M and Alabama Paul Bear Bryant said of luck the following statement. However, lets look at it substituting fate for luck;
"Fate is preparation meeting opportunity."
Preparation is readiness. Opportunity is the flow of events. Fate does not determine the result. That requires an action. Many say that is preceded by a decision no matter of 'free will'. Simply a decision must occur. Most of those many realize a decision is preceded with a purpose. And, some consider purpose is preceded with awareness.
That gives cause to the question is fate simply the purpose of awareness?
I dun'no . . . I'm going to the garden to think about it
Hey zee i know how you feel, & i was like you once looking to find something real....Are you searching for the answers well search inside your heart, if like me your an hopeless romancer it's the "logical" place to start....I mean people will say that we're down here all heading towards our tombs, but we're actually all down here inside mother natures womb....What we're all actually here for zee is to "be" or "not" to "be", & finding real love in your life is the secret & the key....So the key to what? is what a "logical" person would answer, well that key is the key to all the dreams of the hopeless romancer....So what you should do zee is hesitate until you meditate, to clear your mind if it often isn't kind....Ask yourself what it is that you would truly love to do, your heart is there to feel it & that is your guide & your clue.
Your creating your own fate zee with your 100% free will, & so every decision you make is a case of the blue or the red pill.
Never ever ever ever ever give up following your heart, because as well as the key to the finish line it's also the key to the start.
So if what you have tried so far zee hasn't done it for you, then thank it for letting you know & write it off & keep searching looking....Have plenty of fun whilst your looking & try not to worry about the past.....Remember love is the key so do things you love & you will be shown, "we have, all, the time, in the world" like the song says....So chill out, & get contemplating & meditating. :-)
when the moon drinks the glow of the sun
when hope seems hard to find
my heart aches the most
With hurt of the loss and pain
I'll never be able to explain
I hope I can see through the darkness someday.
The way to see through your darkness, is to shine your own light of love..& to take your "fair" share of harshness, so keep going to prove your love..Their up there hoping, watching & waiting, while we're all wasting time, thinking/hesitating
guess the only thing I can do is to wait patiently to be in my own space and time. I never forgot how difficult this was and going to be, just need to understand its required at every stages through life
Honestly zee don't wait just get out there, & find all the things you love doing with your time..That & this is only stage one, stage two is where your going to get to do them all for eternity..So have faith, & have fun, then you will see
daveadam. I hope to make all joy possible. Ive tried twice and people failed me. I guess all are by design.

To what extent do you believe that fate controls our lives?

You guys - I posted this in the Questions section, but because it turned into a full-blown discussion, HubPagers advised me to move it to Forums. Here it is:"Cult" is defined as a system of beliefs that doesn't work, but people cling to it because they fear "eternal hell"...

I don't believe in a God per say, but it seems that about 70%+ or - Does. I would tend to think that if such a being existed, it would encompass the enirety of creation. Many religions have tendancy to say that God is just a watcher from afar. How could they know? To me God is just the illusion of...

Do you believe in fate?I don't think there are any coincidences in life. I've been thinking about this a lot today. But I'm not sure if this necessarily means that fate has to exist. What is the difference between fate and free will? Can they exist together?

Do you think mankind is doomed? With all the potential hazards and doomsday predictions facing mankind - climate change, over population etc, do you think we will sort it out and make it safely into the 22nd century and beyond? Are you an optimist or a pessimist when it comes to humanity?

To what extent do you shape your own destiny, and how much is down to fate?
