Why share the 'Good News'?
Many beliefs and the followers of said beliefs feel the need to 'share the good news' about their belief with others not of this belief. Can anyone tell me why this is? Verses from holy texts are welcome. I am genuinely curious to know. (Also not trying to start an argument and will make sure one isn't started) - I have a hub in progress and need some information abt something I've been curious about for some time?
“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'” Mark 16:15
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14
“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— saying with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.'” Revelation 14:6-7
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Just a few verses jl.
I attend Unity church, a metaphysically based church. I don't attend every Sunday, but sporadically. Most of my "communion" with spirit is while I am in our boat and out on the water on a gorgeous day -- or not so gorgeous sometimes, or riding my 4-wheeler at our camp in Arkansas or simply walking in the park near our house or in the woods at our camp. Sometimes when I'm lost in nature and its beauty I feel very close to the divine. I share that in every way I can, through my conversation, through my hubs, etc. I share it because it gives my life grounding, purpose, meaning and confirmation that "this" is not all there is, that there is a divine presence watching over all of us. I do it because I care about others, I suppose, and hope to help open that door for them and allow them to enjoy the same peace and comfort I enjoy during those times. Although many are put off by proselytizing by the members of some churches, I find it admirable in a certain way because I believe they are following the direction of scripture.
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin entered the world. Man was no longer welcome in the kingdom of God--and doomed to hell. There's probably at least one person you'd sacrifice your own life for, right? That is how much God loves us. He sacrificed a part of Himself--His own son, so that we could enter heaven and continue to have fellowship with Him. No other work or sacrifice was going to be enough to right the wrong Adam and the rest of mankind committed. It is good new indeed that we are spared the reality of hell, if only we accept that Jesus took our place on the cross and died for us.
So why preach to others? Yr answer is yr reasons for belief, but not why you'd spread the news...unless I've read it wrong.
I preach to others because hell is a terrible place and I don't want to see anybody, no matter how must I dislike them, go. You can say God is evil for creating a place, but He created it for Satan, not us.

OMG! (the "G" stands for Gawd, not God) - what is with these athiests?I am not a youngster. And I am not a believer. But I am envious of the serenity true believers appear to find in their life.Now... don't try to proselytize to me, and don't try to prove your faith is the only truth. It...

Why do Christians feel the need to tell us about their religious beliefs?I don't have a problem with Christianity or any religion for that matter, but I view religion/spirituality as a personal and privvate matter and feel that it's best kept that way unless one is specifically asked to expand on...

Why are religious believers scared and fearful to admit they are in a separatist belief system? Because it challenges faith?
