    Hi:
Joined hub pages yesterday and have a question before I do any articles. I see at the side of this page about not posting a web site. Does that include not posting a link to my personal web site at the bottom of the article with signature.
I have posted articles in several article directories and added my link with signature to get backlinks and site views.
If this is not posible someone let me know so I don't get kicked out.

    Thanks
    Jack

    PS
I forgot to ask, I have over 40 years experience in the Automotive field and was wondering if that is a good niche here or should I try something different.

If you are referring to here in the forums, inlcuding a link with your signature is prohibited, in fact we'd prefer you don't include a signature at all.  Every single forum post automatically includes a link to your HubPages profile page.  You can put links, along with other information about yourself there.

Welcome Jack!  Officially, if you have a link in every single one of your Hubs back to the same website, you'll eventually get flagged as "overly promotional".  However, I know Julie Anne Amos has a link to her own website on most of her Hubs, and she doesn't have a problem.  I think so long as you're writing genuinely information-rich Hubs (at least 500 words), not just two paragraphs and "visit my website", you'll probably be OK.

You do know that the best way to link is to use relevant text within the article as your hyperlink, rather than a straight link in your signature?

Hey Jack, welcome to HubPages! Everyone has given you good advice. Here's one more -- you cannot link more than two times to the same domain in a hub. You can (hypothetically) link to 1,000 domains two times in one hub, but no domain can have 3 or more links to it.

And if you've got experience like that in the automotive field, you should absolutely be writing for Demand Studios! They've got thousands of titles out there that I'll be would be right up your alley.

Posting links in your Hub is perfectly okay.  Typically, links are included that are relevant to your hub topic.  You might see a slight hit is hub score and hubber score if all of your hubs point back to the same link.  I know that within a hub there is a limit of 2 links to a domain name.  Excessive linking to a domain across hubs is also frowned on.

To be honest, I think your automotive topic would be a great niche.  Assuming your personal site relates to this then you very well may have reason to link to in it many of your hubs.  By putting a good profile description in with a link to your site, you might be surprised by how much traffic it generates.  I know that I have visited (and returned) to several sites run by hubbers I follow.

    Hope this helps.

It would be better if you will write related content and put your links in anchor text. But remember, do not stuff your hubs with too many links.

Misha told me he thought my hubs were all overly promotional because of that link - NOT that he was complaining just he said I fell foul of the "rules" about overly promotional.

But I've had no issues with the HP team about it, and I'm part of several official HP groups, plus do Flagship hubs (which I do NOt put my author link on.)

I may be ok because none of my hubs promote anything I ahve a financial interst in - eg I don't sell anything or send anywhere somewhere where I make a commission apart from amazon and ebay as everyone else.

Personally I'd be hacked off if I needed to remove it as I've over 300 hubs to change and don't have the time.  I do know my hubs never get above a certain % score, so it may be I'm being penalised in some way but that's ok with me!
