Is there a "serial commenter" on the loose?
I've just had 8 or 9 irrelevant comments on 8 or 9 of my hubs. In each case, the commenter used a different single one syllable name. Some of the comments amounted to jibberish, other seemed like they were misdirected legitimate comments on other hubs, and one was relevant to the hub to which it was posted, so I replied to that comment. Has anyone else had this experience?
Simply do not post the spam comments. They will get the idea they are not welcome.
Sorry Bob Bamberg, haven't had any. I think you can reject them if there of no relevance to you hub
Yes, it has happened to me but it was a couple of weeks ago. Apparently they should be marked as spam but not deleted. That gives HubPages the opportunity to look at them and possibly block an IP address.
Hi Bob
Yep i had the same ''person'' spam commenting on all my travel related hubs, so your not alone, But Thank God Hub pages lets you manually review the spam before approval or denial
Thanks for the input, traveleze. It's comforting to know that I haven't been singled out.
Hi Bob
Think of it as complement you obviously have great hubs on which the spammers want to steal link juice from
I had the same problem a week or so ago. I thought the first one was legitimate (although a bit "off") so I approved it, but then when others started appearing I went back and deleted it along with the others.
Yes I too had some meaningless comments which I deleted immediately.
yes, i had encountered several nonsense comments, very long ones but not connected to my hub, I think these hubbers are from bubblews

Do you delete hub comments that are very generic if it appears the commenter hasn't read the hub?I notice my more popular hubs will get comments left that are just generic like "this was great thanks". I have started deleting these comments because they don't add anything meaningful...

Hi Fellow Writer Friends!Recently, I noticed one comment on my latest article, from some visitor, outside of HubPages. It was at least one week old. I followed the procedure (OTP etc.) and responded to the comment. Then, I thought of checking my other posts to see if there were comments on them....

Yup. 240 fans to 180 Hubs. Still not dead yet.Of course I haven't made any money at all either. I am in it for the joy of hubbing around smart opinionated people. ~haven't even broke a sweat yet though.

Last night I couldn't answer somebody's comment on one of my hubs. I tried a few times, and my answer kept disappearing. This morning I added a new comments capsule, and deleted the old one, but now I lost several comments people made (I knew that would probably happen). Now I tried to comment on...

This is strange. I was a level 3 commenter and have been commenting a lot in the last week, hopefully considered quality comments, but I went down to a level 2 commenter today. Does anyone know if Hubpages changed their commenting rules? I find this frustrating.
