What is your biggest personality flaw and how have you worked to overcome it?
I think mine is a tendency to let things build up until I feel overwhelmed by them. I have always had a tendency to procrastinate or wait til the last minute to get things done. Then I feel stressed by being rushed.
Anyway, I realized through some research that my procrastination was not due to the "laziness" because I'm not actually lazy, I'm highly energetic. I realized over time that what my problem is/was is a fight or flight response run amock. I let my fears cause me to sabotage myself. Now I work hard to not delay things but face head on. Some days better than others.
My biggest personality flaw has always been feeling inferior to others. I've tended to work on it by doing what others refused to do. I thought it would kinda balance things out if I could be good at what they're not and vice versa.
I can see your point, I think everyone has times where they feel inferior so you are definitely not alone.
Not in that respect, no. But I did do something no one else on Earth was willing to do.
I used to get impulsive at times but not anymore. The day i began to let go of things, things just didn't annoy me anymore. Not everything around us will be good always but we should learn to not give in to every impulse. I'm glad i learnt that in time.
Let us be clear on the differences between 'personality' and 'character.' The words are often used interchangeably and not always understood. Personality is our 'persona.' How we are interpreted by others. Personality refers to our outward behaviour, or appearance, our words, our actions. It is not how WE see ourselves.
So if we regard ourselves as shy, it is an interpretation of our character, not our personality. Procrastination is an interpretation of our ego-self, our self-image, how WE see ourselves. Others MIGHT see us as a person who finds if difficult to start a project, for example, or one who vacillates and can't make up his or her mind. They evaluate us by our personality - what we do. We evaluate ourselves through our own beliefs.
Our character, on the other hand is how we are at this moment in time. Character takes into consideration our skills, qualities and values as seen by that part of ourselves which is the real "I." It is NOT generally how we see ourselves but as we ARE in our present time as a human being.
So, to reiterate, our 'personality flaws' are our attributes which are judged by other people to be flaws. Our character flaws are those we personally perceive to be flaws; aspects of ourselves we would like to change.
We can change our characters by, first and foremost, making it a priority project to understand ourselves. And we can do this best by 'going within.' To 'go within' will probably involve lots of quiet, meditation, waiting for the answers that are inherent in all of us to surface. It will be the beginning of a life-long journey. So if you're interested...procrastinate no longer.
I want to do everything quickly which always end up in disaster instead, i have no patience, that is why i make mistakes regularly
I also used to procrastinate things and avoiding responsibility. But after experiencing many untoward outcomes due to these flaws, I realized my faults and learnt to be responsible always and never to postpone things. I think my experience taught me lessons.
