What do YOU think about revisionists who distort the events of World War2, downplaying, even

denying the Holocaust and Nazi atrocities while highlighting the bad things that the Allies did to the Germans, even stating that they were innocent victims? There is a book and documentary called HELLSTORM that does exactly that.

Eleven million people disappeared from Nazi Germany and its occupied territories during WWII. There are records of them, kept by the Nazis themselves. Many of those disappearances were confirmed by relatives who survived. Do the Holocaust deniers think these people were abducted by aliens?

There are photos of the bodies. There are eyewitness accounts of the liberations of the camps. There are firsthand accounts of trains travelling full towards the camps, and empty returning. At a certain point, you just can't keep denying the overwhelming evidence that the Nazis were carrying out a systematic genocide.

Exactly, this denial is based upon hatred of the truth.  They KNOW that such horrendous events occurred.  Their hatred is clouding their refusal to face the truth!

Back in 1973 I heard a speech given by a World War Two soldier, a New Zealander, who blundered into a concentration camp when the allies were advancing in Germany in the last days of the war.   He was almost in tears as he described what he saw when he and his mates entered that camp.   The Holocaust was real all right.  Don't let anyone try to convince you it wasn't.

I KNOW the Holocaust was real, I saw people w/concentration camp tattoos. I also was aware as a child that the Jewish culture in Europe was a shadow of what it once was. Those "revisionists" are poisonous with their demonic diatribe. May they ROT....

I had some Holocaust survivors speak to my history classes. Their stories were bone shaking and seeing the numbers tattooed on their bodies was incredible.

I do not even understand the motive of holocaust deniers. or climate change deniers, or fact deniers of any kind. People presented with actual testable facts just put their head in the ground and claim they have "proof", but they never present this "proof". They just stubbornly "believe" whatever it is that they think is supporting their claims.
What is their motive for doing this?
Money is the first thing that comes to mind. I guess that the author of that book made some money off of it.
The second motive is just that this kind of thinking is insanity. There is something inside some people that fools them completely into denying facts. They can only think with "feelings" and "emotions", they absolutely are incapable of dealing with logic and reason.

It is also hatred.  Holocaust deniers hate Jews and many of them are nationalistic supremacists.  They feel that Hitler was right and they further contend that Germany was innocent. They are the types that believe that the West/Europe is declining.

I haven't seen the film. So, I'll answer the question based on the general statement about revisionists. Obviously, murder should never be condoned. And the Holocaust was one of the greatest tragedies of human history. But things should be put into perspective. Nazi Germany was/is not the only nation capable of behaving the way it did. US culture behaves not entirely unlike German culture in the 1930s: rabidly nationalistic, seeing enemies in the world at every turn, ready to go to war rather than talk...turning a blind eye when a member of a historically-maltreated ethnic group is brutalized, murdered or stripped of liberty by public officials or citizens. The "freest nation in the world" officially condoned slavery from 1776 through 1865. And this was chattel slavery where millions died, were beaten, sold, mutilated, raped, bred and were worked to death. And it actually took a civil war that killed off 2% of the US population just for that to end. And I haven't even mentioned the Indian tribes we virtually exterminated through conquest. I believe the US is so sanctimonious and so devoted to self-justification that our population is perfectly capable of committing atrocities similar to what the Nazis did without batting an eye. We write our own history. Remember that most of the Jews murdered in WWII came from nations that Germany conquered, like Poland. I could see the US brutalizing a sub-group it doesn't like from a conquered nation. The US (and really no other nation) has no blood on its hands.
