Why is there a double standard between men and women that have lot of sex?

   Why is there a double standard between men and women that have lot of sex?
   
   When a men have sex with a lot of women people call him a champ, but when women have sex with a lot of men, people call her a slut (mostly by other women, men usually don't care).  Why do you think that is the case?

   Women do not praise men who have sex with lots of women!
   They call them no good, cheaters, dogs, a-holes, and a variety of other names. The main differences however is these men don't care what women think of them and other men don't put them down for doing it. In fact a lot of men would want to know what their "secret" is.
   Women on the other hand are oftentimes the first to call another woman a slut or whore. They have no interest in learning what her "secret" is to have men have sex with them. In fact they blame promiscuous women for the downfall of traditional courtship!
   Traditional women view promiscuous women as being their enemy!
   Unlike the promiscuous man the promiscuous woman does care what men and women think about her. Her female counterparts despise her!
   One can only imagine what it would be like if women stopped putting down other women and stopped carrying about what men thought about them. That would be the end of the so called double standard.
   However that is not likely to happen because the traditional woman views the promiscuous woman as a threat to her relationship. Where as men don't view the promiscuous man as being a threat to their relationships.
   Women support this double standard because they will never as a group say it's okay for women to be as promiscuous as the men are.
   When we say "society" looks the other way what we're really saying is (men don't put other men down) for being promiscuous.
   As I stated (women are not in favor of men sleeping around either).

   I agree the double standard exists, but I do not agree that men don't also engage in "slut shaming" women.  In fact it's very common for men to put down women who have multiple sexual partners.  In some cultures men (and women) even subject women who are adulterers to the death penalty, but do not issue the same punishment to men.  I hear "men" in our area (Bible belty area) call women sluts all the time and it's shameful.  If the man is a "stud" then that stud had to find his conquests somewhere - so the double standard really is ridiculous.

      Christin, Yes men do call promiscuous women sluts and whatever. I'm saying (men) don't put other men down for doing it!  Women do put women down!
      Promiscuous men don't care what (women) call them! That's the big difference between them.

   In this day and age, anyone who believes that a male having multiple sex partners is some kind of a badge of honor is a fool.
   
   Whenever it is brought to my attention that some male is "spreading his seed" all over the place, a great-big question comes to mind: I ask myself is he infected with HIV-AIDS?
