   What percentage of your traffic is due to Facebook?
   
   I wonder if I would do a lot better if I was on Facebook (socially) for marketing my articles. I have a business fb page for promotion purposes and use it for posting new articles but the return is minimal. Do you depend on fb for the majority of your views?

   It can't hurt to try.
   I've never sat down and worked the #'s but I seem to do pretty well via FB. In addition to posting links to my Hubs on my own personal FB page, I also post them to numerous FB groups I belong to which pertain to the topics I write most about (hard rock/heavy metal music and/or "B" movies). Many of the people in these groups know of my status as a wanna be writer/journalist, so those posts usually get me a few extra page views...even if they're only visiting out of pity. I'm not proud. Traffic is traffic.

      The FB interest group thing is probably a good route to take with FB.  Your niche subjects might do well on Google groups too?

      Timetraveler, all you have to do is type  whatever your interest is into the FB search bar, it'll come back with lots of pages and groups devoted to that subject.  Then just start joining groups!

   Zero.  I don't have Facebook. I used to have a personal one years ago but there was drama.  I didn't even have any drama personally but watching friends and family argue back and forth plus the racist comments...I couldn't take it anymore.
   
   I am thinking of making one for a writing venture I'm about to start.

   Once in awhile I get a little activity from FB, but by far I get more social media interaction from Pinterest and nothing even worth mentioning really from Twitter.  Consider this I've had over half a million views to my hubs from Pinterest and less than 10k from Facebook.  It probably depends on your content as well - the one piece that gets shared most on FB is a comedic/satirical thing I wrote.  The ones that get pinned on Pinterest are ones of a more practical and "how to" nature.  I would maybe gauge it by the subjects you are sharing, where you put your most focus socially.

      It definitely depends on your subject matter and the types of images you use. Pinterest is mostly good for tutorials, recipes, house stuff - "girlie" topics

      Yea, I figured that out awhile ago so I kinda gave up on Pinterest as a traffic tool. I still fool around with it "pinning" cool pix of stuff like old concert shirts, movie posters, etc. and other nerdy junk just for fun though.

   I used Facebook for promotion a little bit, when I first started writing. That let my friends know what I was doing. After a while though, I felt like I did not want to spam my friends with my links. I figured that if they were really interested, they would check my hubs.
   
   Once in a while, I will post something, but only if I can think of several people who would be interested in the subject I wrote about.

   I probably get 90% of my traffic from Facebook and Reddit.  I keep a log of where and when I post the pages so that I don't bombard people, but it works well.

      Janis - I'd love more organic traffic, but I am shooting for 100,000 views  this year (likely to hit that in another 2 weeks or so), and I'm likely to hit 200,000 by December.  I think if I stuck with organic, I might have 2500 or 3000 if I was lucky

      Andrew, never say never. I've surpassed your December goal without fb. Just think what I could do with fb! We will reach our goals in time, keep plugging away.

      The thing I like about Facebook is that I seem to be in control over how much traffic I get.  With organic stuff, I just don't get any.  Maybe my SEO skills suck, or maybe I'm just writing about too broad of a topic within too narrow of a community.

   I get very few page views from FB and Twitter.  Most of mine come from  Google and Pinterest, although I have yet to get any big views from Pinterest like some people do.
   
   I'm not good at social marketing, but I do think topics are the key.
   
   I like Pinterest because I find it relaxing to look at the photos there.  I'm always surprised to see that people actually click on my articles based on my own photos.

      Photos are key on Pinterest. I do get 1 to 3 pins a month for my articles, nothing significant. It does depend on the topic and what people want when marketing anywhere. I wonder though if fb success has some to do with having a following or group?
