   No one knows!
   We hope each president does (better) than the previous!
   Unforeseen circumstances and challenges dictate the effectiveness of a president's ability to keep their campaign promises.
   A candidate with a huge focus on domestic issues may be drawn into high stakes international war scenarios and one who campaigned on national security may find them self trying to resolve an economic recession. Their handling of a major earthquake or hurricane could overshadow accomplishments.
   
   Another major factor is whether or not the sitting president is of the same party as the majority of congress and has more than enough votes to push forth their agenda to keep their promises.
   Last but not least is the time involved with addressing accusations and attacks hurled at the elected president by the opposing party. Their goal is to make sure the sitting president is not re-elected! The last two years of a first term presidency is about preparing to run for re-election. The "honeymoon period" for new president gets shorter and shorter. Attacks by the opposition party heat up with each month.
   No matter who wins the election close to half of the people who voted are going to be disappointed because {their candidate} did not win! Each side bunkers down listening to rhetoric which reinforces the idea that only someone from (their party) can do anything right.
   Anyone who is a die-hard loyalist for their party will rarely if ever give credit for anything good to a president of the opposition party!
   Democrats thought George W. was horrible and Republicans think Obama is horrible. No matter who wins one things is for certain lots of people will be unhappy!
   The word "better" tends to be subjective. It comes down to what is most important in the individual's mind and if they feel it's being addressed. If someone does not like you nothing you do is right.

   I think that most of my American friends would tell you "I don't think it can get any worse". For them, I hope they didn't jinx it.
   
   Anyway, for all the negativity towards Obama I have to wonder... what he is doing now is continuation what he did when he first became president. If he truly was, and is, so terrible, then why did so many people vote for him to become a presiden for second time?!

      I agree. I think Obama has been a great president. Although I haven't agreed with everything he has done, I still think he has did a good job

      Stargrrl, Rarely does a wartime president lose his job while the war is still going on. In 2004 a lot of people thought John Kerry "flip flopped" on the issues after voting to invade Iraq and then spoke out against it.

   It is really impossible to make such a prediction, if the prediction is going to be based upon the ability and attitudes toward the man, the platform he brings with him, the people he appoints and the cooperation he gets from Congress.
   
   It takes years to determine if one president was better than the other. The impact of his action, or lack of action on any major issue, may not reveal the ramifications for many years.

   Until the two parties start actually working together to resolve issues instead of against each other and putting more effort into trying to make the other look bad rather than coming to a resolution, I don't think any President is going to do a good/better job.
