How much longer do you think the US would remain the most powerful in the world?
When George Bush was in power, a lot of people think, US' time as most powerful nation in the world is limited, due to the continue crippling economy and one ill foreign policy after another, especially to do with Iraq and Afghanistan. But 8 years after Obama, US still rank 1 in world power and seem to be bouncing back from the bad policies of Bush administration. So, in your opinion, would US strength as most powerful end within the foreseeable future? How much longer would US remain most powerful and after US, who do you think would be most powerful?
It is of my opinion that the United States will always be the most powerful nation in the world because we are willing to continue to go further and further into debt just to prove we are the powerful country in the world, or at least appear to be.

All that money didn't help us on 911
The notion we are "the most powerful nation in the world" is just that - a notion and it's nonsense. We lag behind other countries in things that are truly important like education and we lead in such wonderful things as the most incarcerated people per capita. USA USA... eyeroll. We have the potential to be great again, but blind patriotism has contributed a lot to our decline in recent decades. There are many countries with a higher standard of living for example, better median incomes, less chronic illness and longer life expectancy, to name a few.
The US has 10,000 nuclear weapons, 10 Aircraft carriers, a few dozen ballistic missile subs and a huge aerial force of bombers with nuclear capability (stationed all over the word). Russia alone matches us in nuclear weapons, but no country on earth comes close to our naval and air force arsenal. No other country in the world has a military presence in over 100 other countries. We are militarily the most powerful country in the world. Our commercial power is in decline and is no longer dominant in any industry other than controlling oil resources. We are one of the weakest countries terms of shipping industry. We don't control supply chains and we don't manufacture consumer goods. In the 2020s, the Nicaraguan Canal will be complete and we will no longer monopolize the isthmus. We also have no major commercial ports in the Gulf Coast that can manage the huge container ships that the Scandinavians now use. Basically, we've put all of our chips on oil and military hegemony. The former will be replaced by clean energy and the latter is not sustainable. We'll never go away as a major world power though. The world is happy that we're willing to be the military "tough guys" so that they don't have to do it. We'll just share the world with spheres of influence economically.
And yet we didn't have a single aircraft in the skies to protect us during 911.

At which time, things will change dramatically versus things today.More people will be poorer than poverty level now.More people will be unemployed.More people will...

Some countries would say America is for always involving itself in other countries issues and economies. Americans are lead to believe the biggest problem is a toss up between Iran and North Korea even though we are involved in Iraq and Afghanistan still. Other would say China because it is the...

How much longer will you have to wait for Spring where you are located? It is now March 9, 2015. March 20th in the USA is (as I recall) termed "the first day of Spring." Such a designation for a country as large as the USA may be some kind of an average designation. What does...
