How to quit smoking?
I've been smoking for 7 years and I'm welling to quit.. Any ideas??
The biggest part of quitting is to want to quit and have the resolve that you are going to do it no matter what. I smoked for over 40 years and am on my 3rd month quitting. If I can do it after that many years, anybody can. It isn't easy, but it isn't as hard as your mind tells you.
I am using the patch. Chantix has worked for many people and most health insurances pay for it. Mine even pays for the patches or gum if you have a prescription from your doctor. At least you some help. Going cold turkey is hard.
Best of luck and don't wait any longer to quit. You'll always be happy that you did. I know you can do it.
you quit after 40 years of smoking, that's great
I'm willing to quit and i tried E-seg, it worked for me, just for a week
The only thing prevents me from quiting is anger, how do you pass anger and bad mood without smoking?
Quitting smoking depends mainly on who actually started it, the smoker.
1. He/she has to make up mind on the basis that it's not at all good for health and it kills. If that would come, the automaticall he can make up to quit.
2. Apart from that, there are tablets available that helps quitting.
3. In child's overall growth, parents should take active care. They should give proper guidance and give good culture to their children. That includes goods and bads, what to choose and what not, how to behave. Among all, good Habits also plays Main role
parents can't do anything about that because we know everyone started smoking in secret.. and after a while smoking became part of person's life
i didn't try tablets, but i did try e-sig, it worked for me, just for a week
True not always but, as I said, yes..! They have a major role to play. Kids learn from their parents initially. That's when you need to sow the seed of goodness which reaps goodies as they grow. They keenly watch parents' behavior and learn.
What made we want to quit is seeing family members who have severe COPD in and out of hospitals and not able to leave her home, The need to be on oxygen 24/7. Now my husband smokes two to three packs a day. Not only is he killing himself with this, but the money spent is crazy. I am in New Jersey and a pack of cigs is around $8. So I wore the patch #2 for two weeks, had will power to want to quit and when the two weeks went by I just went cold turkey. Most people quit when they got sick or just could not afford cigarettes. What ever reason fits you, Do It! I feel so much better and no more coughing fits every morning. I was not a heavy smoker and did not smoke as long as you, but just do it. You will feel the difference in a week. Good Luck!
Well said, smoking really killing me, I'll try hard to quit
I wish you and your husband luck and to stay away from smoking
thank you
My Dad quit 25 years ago, using the nicotine patches, which were fairly new at the time. He also chewed a lot of gum. He was 50 at the time, and had started smoking at the age of 15. He had quit for six months once before, in his thirties, after a health scare. When he did quit, he was motivated by what he was hearing about secondhand smoke. Some of that was being exaggerated at the time, but still, it made an impression on Dad. He thought about what the smoke might be doing to others. That helped motivate him to quit.
That's really helpful, many people recommended nicotine patches and gum, I'll give them a try , and i wish health and wellness for your Dad
thank you ..
Before you think about quitting smoking you should know that it's a habit , a routine , and a habit have cue - routine - reward , the cue is the nicotin demande in your body , the routine is smoking and the reward is you won't have the urge anymore , so to stop it :
you should get a new habit instead , that gives you a reward that makes you feel better than smoking , such as Jogging , Doing Sports , Martial Arts , Fitness , Calisthenics ( street workout ) or any other sports i recommend Swiming too because it helps in pulomonary , in any ways you should know that to quit smoking it's an art , you should be smart in your moves , you should know that a mind is your robot , you control it as you like it's all a state of mind you can stop if you decide , you should convince your subconcious that you can do it , that's it is easy , and for motivation you should know it's for the Begining to complete your goal you should have THE CONSISTENCY ;
your body will reward you for leaving such a bad habit , because after one week the nicotin in your body will vanish , you will feel better , you will have a lower risk of having cancer !
Smoking is a sin , it's a mistake you should know that in life before you become a REAL MEN ; nothing should control you or lead you or make actions for you , you should make actions BY YOURSELF only you can control your self
Good Luck , I'm sure you can do it
What you just said is "Words of gold"
that's really encouraging, thank you for taking time motivating me
you said the key point which is "you should know that it's a habit .. you should get a new habit instead"
thank you so much
And since you asked about anger , well that can be a cue to and you smoke and get rewared of course by feeling less angry , instead you should have another habit to control your anger , what i do is go take shower , read a book or do yoga , good luck
YES! I was an on and off smoker for thirty years. More on than off until I purchased the e-cigarettes. I know many people have tried with this and failed, but there is a trick.
I used Vapor4Life, which is ironic because of using their brand the way I did, I was able to not vapor for life!
The first set of cartridges I ordered were like an 8g level of nicotine. Then each time I ordered a new set I lowered the levels of nicotine. 8, then 6, then 4, then 0. I kept the 0's around for emergency.
It got to the point that smoking was so far from my mind, I would forget to take them with me when going out. Don't do that. You don't want to break down and buy a pack of real cigarettes. If that does happen, opt for the lowest level of nicotine e-cig you can buy over the counter at the store.
If you stick to the lower as you go plan I'm sure you will succeed. Good luck!
Thank you anne for stopping by.. i did try e-sig.. it worked with me for a week.. maybe it works for some peolpe
Thank you
