What is the greatest love story ever told?

Whether fiction or real, what do you think  is the greatest love story you have read about or watched in a movie?

There is a movie called Hero that is very emotional and it's a love story. It's not in English, however, it does have subtitles. It's so amazing that I sobbed tremendously after watching it!

I think that the older the love story, the more vintage it would seem, because many great love stories are still being told today. TITANIC is as vintage as it gets

Not that this will matter to anyone because it's personal, but I love this story; it's about my mother and father.
Back in the early 30's my father and mother knew of each other because they attended the same church.  My mother was only about 16 and my father almost 20.  He liked her and she liked him but he didn't do anything about it because she was so pretty and didn't think he would have a chance.  What he didn't know is that she thought the same thing about him.  A mutual friend went to my father and said you better start talking to Louise or you will loose your chance, a lot of other young men like her.  He told this friend, "tell Louise if she likes me then meet me in the middle of the bridge and told her when."  Well the time came and her living on one side and him on the other side approached the bridge at exactly the same time and they met in the middle.  They both knew they were in love with each other right then and there.  The rest as they say, is history.  I love that love story.

I like your story. It is true love. It is amazing; what some people do for love. God bless them and their children too.

Rachel I wish you would make a hub on that; everyone would love it. You can just tell some other things about them as a filler to get your 750 words. Hope you will!

For me personally It is the Bride of Christ and it is ongoing.  It is the story of my life and will continue until I pass on.  It is not written, just in bits and my full story is already written in heaven.

Now for books of this world there are so many love stories written in this world that I would consider great.  But I will go with Jane Eyre because I resemble Jane in many ways

My favorite is "The Notebook" from a book to a movie by Nicholas Sparks. It is the story of a woman who has Alzheimer's and is in a nursing home. Her husband stays with her and reads the story of their life and love, until she finally realizes it is her spouse. I am sure there are a thousand other love stories, but this one has good acting by James Garner and touched my soul and heart. The wife played an outstanding part also. name now escaping me. You can;t remember everything. I will think of it in a minute. Gena Rowlands

Yes, it was Gena Rowlands, a wonderful actress. Her and James Garner together were so good. And the actor who played the young man of Garner's character was really good, too. I love that story, Audrey.

What sticks in my mind is Splendor in the Grass. A young innocent girl falling in love and confused by it all. Old movie but it always makes me cry. If Natalie didn't get an award for that, she should have.

I remember that movie. It was very endearing. Natalie Wood was always a favorite of mine. Thanks, Jackie.
