   Does is scare anyone else that Donald Trump is still in the presidential race?
   
   Surprisingly, to me at least, he is still competitive in the presidential race. I have a hard time wanting to follow an individual that was featured on wrestling shows, reality TV, etc. He is certainly a media magnet because he is controversial and creates drama, but is he really a good fit to dealing with issues such as a balanced budget and foreign affairs?

   The answer is how well do you think that the professional long term incumbent politicians have done for the country.
   
   My answer is that they did terrible, and the proof is where we are today. We have been in a continual decline since the artificial oil shortages of the 1970s.
   
   The only positive tick in the economy was due to financial scams that eventually tanked the economy. The dot com was a ponzi scheme that ignored the rules of stock market investing, and made startups which should have been penny stocks into blue chips.
   
   The creators of that scam made their money and got out fast leaving the dummies holding the empty bag.
   
   The everyone can own a home bubble was another scam created by the government and the financial industry. This scam caused the economic meltdown.
   
   All of this decline happened with your traditional professional politicians in congress and the presidency. Both the democrats and the republicans have had control of the country, and neither one of them moved the country forward.
   
   So I don't understand what is your objection to a new paradigm in the political process?
   It is not like Donald Trump can make things any worse than the professional politicians.
   
   The incestuous collusion's of the politicians in the political parties has ejected the voter from the We the People to the We the Party ideology. The party uses their loyal party voters, but discards them to snuggle up to the third party money and influence.
   
   So how will more of the same kind of professional politicians change the decline into returning us to prosperity. Something we have not had since the 1950s.
   
   This claim can be verified from history. And no matter how you see it, today is dismal, and we got here thanks to professional cookie cutter politicians.
   
   I like Donald Trump as a catalyst to get the professional politicians to come up with a A game to counter him. So far, I don't see anything but status quo from them.
   
   Instead of improving their game, they just want to attack him personally.
   
   If we don't change the US politics paradigm then why should we expect in different outcome than we have seen in the past five decades.
   
   And how are the professional doing with the Balanced Budget, and Foreign affairs, pretty pathetic, as they keep on spending and taxing.

      I certainly agree that the current system is flawed and has been for a while. I also like the concept of bringing in leaders from different sectors. The individuals most intimetely involved with critical decisions should have some industry experience

      I would think that the republican party could source a better candidate as an industry expert, while being a little less flamboyant.

   No it's not a surprise at all.
   The Republican party has been divided for quite some time now since the Tea Party hijacked the party.
   Their goal is to blow up the model of traditional government practices. In fact anyone with a long career in politics and legislative experience is seen as being a part of the "establishment".
   For a while the top three candidates were Trump, Carson, & Fiorina. None of them has ever been elected to any governmental office!
   This illustrates that this is not just about Trump but rather a movement within the party that wants an "outsider".
   While much of what Trump has said plays well with his base he is not likely to have the same effect in a general election.
   Only an idiot would believe if Trump were president he could run a government the same way he runs a corporation!
   You don't get to "fire" congressmen and senators who refuse to comply with your wishes!
   You can't call Mexico's president and "tell him they're going to pay for a 2000 mile wall!" (And expect them to do so!) You can't load up buses and planes to deport (11 million undocumented people) in the U.S. Make abortion illegal, eliminate Planned Parenthood and the Department of Education and whatever else...etc
   (And you don't get what you want "shut down" the government!)
   A large percentage of the Tea Party folks have no idea of the various laws and checks and balances within government.
   This explains why they have wasted so much time and tax payer money trying to repeal Obamacare. They've held more than 50 repeal votes, virtually all of which have died in the Senate.
   Even if they got enough Democrats to vote their way the President can simply veto it! The Senate needs 67 votes; over 2/3rds to override a presidential veto. These Tea Party candidates make loads of promises that either they don't know they can't keep or their voters are too naïve to know that little happens without "compromise" between both parties.
   Right now any Republican willing to seek a compromise with Democrats on any issue is seen as a traitor who must be ousted!

      The laws and checks and balances have not helped this century.
      As long as you think one party is the problem and the other party has the solution, look back in recent history and find out the neither of them had a solution, but both are problem

      I agree both parties are guilty of creating problems. However I don't believe the solution is to blow up everything in hopes of waking up to 1950 again. That seems to be the Tea Party goal. Ronald Reagan couldn't get their vote!

   Ha! Not at all, he is the only one who can undo the issues in this Country. He is the only one smart enough, rich enough and direct enough to be in the position for president. If you think its scary, you need to rethink your existence.
   
   If you're okay with how society is, and what is happening to our beautiful America, then you must be for the villains who are trying to tear America apart.
   
   Free rides for illegals is not okay, its not okay my paid in social security is being given to someone who doesn't pay taxes, or lives here illegally, stealing other people's identities to get a better life.
   
   The old saying, "when in Rome, do as the Romans" applies to America, we are a group of people who's forefathers built this country on blood, sweat and tears.
   
   What it has become is not pretty, but there is no others out there who will take us out of the pit created by Obama. Like other posters, there have been bumpy roads and etc throughout the last elections.
   
   Scared about Trump? No way.

      Spot on Scorpio. Though I don't agree with everything he did Obama is not the creation of the pit. That came from deregulation, not having proper checks and balances, and trickle down economic theory.
