Who do you think is the worst Republican president we have ever had,  or the best? And Why?

The worst Republican US President was Ulysses Grant. Everything wrong in US politics today can be traced back to 1869 through 1877. The best GOP President was probably Taft. Maybe Roosevelt would be a close second. Harding would have been the best if it weren't for the corruption in his Cabinet. And Garfield certainly would have been very good if he hadn't died in his first year of taking office. Hoover was the most intelligent Republican President. But that never matters in politics. Eisenhower doesn't make the cut because he didn't know what he was doing and was often convalescing. However, because he knew the military so well he was the perfect man for the job at the time. That doesn't make him a great president though.

Teddy Roosevelt was a good president, but demFDR saddled us with SS, and it was WWII, and not any of his programs that ended the depression. His best accomplishment was developing the Atomic Bomb that saved hundreds of thousands of American Soldiers.

Yes, the Atomic Bomb saved hundreds of thousands of American soldiers because Japan would have fought to the last man defending their country. It would have added years to the war.

Lincoln was the first and the best, hands down.  He saved the Union and initiated the homestead act, which gave land and prosperity to millions.  George W Bush was the worst.  He brought us a trillion dollars of debt and turned the Middle East into a mess we can't extract ourselves from.

At least Reagan was wise enough to keep us out of major foreign entanglements, and helped end the Cold War with the Russians, even though we're in a new one now.

Well there was Grenada, That Old Drug War which involved Latin America, and the Lebanese situation so I don't know that I can say we were totally out of foreign entanglement during his tenure.....plus he was dealing with Iran.........

Yeah but most of those were fought through proxies, with minimal American deaths.  Yeah he screwed up Central America real bad, which is probably responsible for our current immigration crisis, but if we're keeping score I vote Bush worse.

And I won't argue with that assessment...
