Why do so many people not like the Bible?

   Some people hate the book. Some people hate people who obsess over the book. Some people hate people who love the book and don't allow them to express their own opinions i.e you're not allowed to dislike the book. All in all, it's a very old self help book for people who need it. They need it because they lack drive or vision or something I dont understand but don't need to and it gives them something to cling to. The same as any religion.
   
   If however someone attacks you for needing this self help book, then they are a bad person. But if they are simply criticising it, then that's their right as a free person.
   
   But yes, being all about the bible and not allowing others to criticise it is about as "unchristian" as you can get, especially seeing as half of this book has been reinterpreted, wrongly interpreted, altered and changed to the extend that it's hardly even remotely the same as it was 1,200 years ago.
   
   The massive irony in Americans obsessing over telling people they must love the book or they must hate the book is that that very thing is against the whole point of the United states or any free country. You can do as you like, as long as you're not forcing someone else to feel a certain way. To do so, is fanatical and simply insane.

      The problem JC is you are saying the Father is Jesus not so , the Father is still over Jesus and the son works with the Father. Jesus explains the Father to us because of their close relationship.

      Yes, the Father is greater than the Son, but the Son is speaking for the Father who says: I do not condemn, punish or use the sword.  Stop projecting your need to dominate/control onto the Father.  Father Never condemns. Condemnation is from YOU.

   Because the Old Testament (OT) depicts God as vengeful, jealous and wrathful. The OT and NT contradict.  Renounce the OT, but accept the teachings of Jesus; God is Good, always good, a loving parent who does not judge or condemn. Further, God never chose the Hebrews to lead and never gave them land. There was no covenant between God and Israel for land or to kill for land. Renounce the God of Israel and accept the God of Jesus.

      JC Rev 20:4 says Judgement was given them.
      Acts 17:31 says he will judge the inhabited earth.
      Hebrews 13:4 clearly says he will judge fornicators and
      Adulterers.
      JC you pick scriptures of true sayings but misunderstand.

   i believe that the bible was God's words, but i dislike it because it got modified a lot, it's like the bible got more updates from humans, and i do not trust human beings , i would love to read the original bible

      If you take the older ones and you look up what those words meant back in the day they are very similar. The story isn't tarnished. Some people just don't like the conviction parts of the Bible... there is always a but though and some redemption!(:

      I have a bible in front of me, that includes the Macabees - books like- Tobit, Judith, Sirach, Baruch  etc. AHHHH. The Jews are the chosen people, Christ died on the cross. Jesus called Paul to preach and offer salvation to the Gentiles. Read Romans.

   I can't say that I dont like the Bible, in fact, I like many parts of it and share many toughts that you can read there, but I do have issues with the Bible being a book where only men had a say, where only men were the ones who made the stories, where a God could potentially kill all the first songs of every family in a town in one day, just to force the hand of a bad leader.
   Where a gay person deserves only punishment.

      Only men have a say? God could potentially kill? Gay persons deserve punishment? Which bible are you reading?  God is merely trying to set things straight. A lot of time his chosen people are merely punished to lead them to the right of doing things.

    Probably because it points out their sins and calls for a dramatic change in their lives. It's more convenient for them to renounce the Bible than to abandon the sins that they love.

    lot of people don't like the bible because it was written about 3500 years ago...we don't necessarily know who actually wrote the bible really there's a lot of different versions of the bible. Some believe the bible is man made.

    The answer to this question is like food.
    either you like what you are eating and return for
    more. Or If you disagree with the first bite you will not finish the plate or meal.
    Why ? Because your body is rejecting it.
    Also if you like it you are what you eat. Many times said when eating real food.
    The bible is considered the bread of life.
    But many are not or will not accept its nourishment. It is shunned and disrespected as the word of God. But because it contains old laws and new laws people create their own . so they do not take the seriousness of these written laws as a consideration ,when you do that you take the largest amount of morals from the equation.
    What does it add up to the world conditions as we see today. Even if you believed part it would not be enough to sustain a good healthy spiritual body.
    The world is contaminated with do what you want not what is right. Now we have the results of people having no conscious feelings  saying , and doing his fellow man unjustly.
    Hp has shown on a small scale how people can
    be mentally cruel even people who claim to know God are lying. Because Jesus is nothing like them .
    For many the book just reminds them how sinful
    We are , many do not want to face the mirror of truth so they break the mirror.
    But what they do not know is we create our own test for salvation no one else. So no matter what we say here it does not matter its who we are from the heart that He searches for and the truth is found.

       Can we judge the hand of God who gives life , if he gives he is the law that knows when it time to take away.
       Humans can not judge only God. Because we can not create a human nor can we return a life force.
       He still has the power to restore life.

       I'm pretty sure morals have been around much longer than the bible. And only some parts of the bible refer to morals.And these parts seem to be negated by the bloodthirsty tyranny of the OT. We're programmed to believe the bible is the base of morals

       Kissandtells, Jesus/God stated he did Not Condemn. Jesus did not cast the first stone... Ever. So we are to do the same. All evil is a projection of the person and is Not of God. Joshua killed, but Not at the direction of God, so No covenant formed.
