What "inspires"/"motivates" an ABLE-BODIED/CAPABLE/INTELLIGENT adult to want, expect, &

even DEMAND that others should socioeconomically support & give him/her better lifestyle, refusing to exert any effort to attain such a lifestyle?

A nice, necessary, interesting question, and one difficult to answer. I have seen so many of these mentioned people, and yes, some fit your description, while others, once you speak to them, you come to realise that all are not roses, even if you can't put your finger on the problem.

Life is largely subjected to the laws of cause and effect; action and reaction; and generally we are where we are. Much of us are largely playing out our destiny or fate, but this again is a very complex issue.

I suppose I'm just saying that a perfectly seemingly healthy, intelligent and able-bodied man, may not necessarily be all that he seems to be. But yes, sometimes I wonder too. Higher blessings.

A sense of entitlement, that they can come up with a lot of petty reasons to justify. Logic will follow emotion, justifying what they want.
Laziness, so they live parasitically off others if they can.

The 'self-image' doing the justifying.  That is, identification with their conditioned thinking.

Whatever our interpretation of how others should behave is just as strongly rooted in our 'conditioning' as it is in theirs.  It's a self-image thing. No point in being upset about it.   You're not going to change them.  All you're really doing is  defining your own views.   And, of course, grumbling only makes our own suffering about what is right and what is wrong, that much stronger.

Either 'go with the flow' or do something tangible to change the situation.

There are adults who are QUITE capable of supporting themselves but they SIMPLY REFUSE to do so.  In fact, they want- EXPECT others to support them.  They will even rationalize this! read more
