Does the Bible take a position on clairvoyancy?

What happens when the clairvoyant is a Christian?
Is that person then not Christian because of the clairvoyant qualities?
What, in your opinion, is a clairvoyant?

There are spirits and there is THE SPIRIT!  Acts 1:4 asked Believers to "WAIT" for HELP from the Holy Spirit (John 14:26) to be able to "discern" the spirits!  If not, (Acts 19:13-16) "Then certain of the vagabond Jews, ECORCISTS, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.  And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.  And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are ye?  And the man in whom the evil spirit was LEAPED ON THEM, and OVERCAME THEM, and PREVAILED AGAINST THEM, so that THEY FLED OUT OF THAT HOUSE "NAKED AND WOUNDED!"  Therefore, if we don't "WAIT" for "HELP," GOD may allow this to happen!

If we "WAIT" we are prepared to "test the spirits!"  I John 4:1-6 says "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of GOD (WORD): because many false prophets are gone out into the world.  Hereby know ye the Spirit of GOD ("WAIT"): Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of GOD: (Believing "rightly divided WORD," not just that there's a Big Daddy GOD in the sky!): And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of GOD: and this is that spirit of anitichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come, and even NOW already is it in the world.  Ye are of GOD, little children, and have overcome them ("WAITED"): because greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world.  They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world ("Clairvoyancy!"), and the world heareth them.  We are of GOD: he that KNOWETH GOD "heareth us;" he that is NOT of GOD "heareth not us.  Hereby know we the SPIRIT OF TRUTH, and  the spirit of error."  So you see?  WE KNOW!

There is NO WAY a clairvoyant can be a "Christian!"  I find no Scripture where one who possessed psychic abilities believed!  One came close, but he "gave out that HIMSELF was some great one" (v9) and he wanted to "buy" the power of GOD" (Acts 8:9-24)!  Simon's "heart" was not right; although "he believed!"

GOD is a "heart GOD" and when you use "a spirit" to do "THE SPIRIT'S" job, you need to do as vs 22 & 23 says "Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray GOD, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.  For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity."

    REPENT!

Could you, please give your definition of a clairvoyant.  You've thrown out a lot of scriptures, but have not really answered the questions.

I said "psychic abilities!" When one "takes over" the job of the Holy Spirit, they "think THEY have powers" & GOD "will not share HIS GLORY w/another" (Is42:8)!  HE wants us to rely TOTALLY on HIM to "lead & guide" us into future (Jn 14:26)!

Do you think it's possible to have psychic abilities where it is not an attempt to "take over the job of the Holy Spirit?"  I think psychic abilities are a little more detailed than you're suggesting.

Of course they are!  It depends what "level" you're on! If you cont, u will eventually feel it's "me" even if u say u don't now! Jesus HUMBLED HIMSELF & u MUST too!  We all have "pa" but HUMBLE ourselves with a "pure heart" for HE is THE CREATOR!

I thought clairvoyant was having developed senses beyond our normal 5.But many neurologists identify nine or more senses, and some list as many as 21. Isn't clairvoyancy pretty well established by empirical data? It is not spooky ooky stuff.

No! "Gift" Bible says of those "Didn't we heal in your name, cast out devils?" & Jesus said, "Depart fm me, I never knew u" (Matt 7:21-23)! They have "gifts" but "gifts" are w/o repentance" (Rm 11:29) so they don't have to "repent" & can have

Eric, I agree with you.  Clairvoyancy is basically heightened senses beyond our normal 5.  Now  some people tend to lump psychics and clairvoyants into one group.  I think, as a result, clairvoyants tend to get a backlash if they claim to Christians.

Does WORD not say "God will NOT share HIS GLORY?" Then if above the normal five, you're getting into GOD'S business!

Norine, just a thought.....are you exempting pastors, clergy members,  and those with the gift of prophecy for purpose of this discussion? I'm basing this question on your last comment.

GOD looks @ the heart! When HE sets them in the Church they're "chosen" to edify the Church! Are u a BELIEVER in the New Covenant which is the CHURCH?  Have you been "Chosen" by GOD? "The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets"(ICor14

Norine, now let's get back to the topic at hand, which is that of clairvoyancy.  I can thoroughly understand and appreciate your knowledge of the Bible, so can you speak on the topic which I asked, or are you lumping clairvoyants, medium, psychics?

You know Gina, we all have some degree of "clairvoyancy" w/in us, but we allow the Holy Spirit overrule (II Chron 7:14)!
What diff does it make how *I* define it's what WORD SAYS!
If "gift" doesn't "edify the Church" (JESUS; I Cor 14), in err!

Norine, please read my question.  Don't judge.  Don't assume. Don't lump  the "gifts" together.  Just focus on the question.  Yes, "we all have a certain degree of clairvoyance."  Now based on this response from you, answer the question.

"Clairvoyancy" is "Prophesy" (ICor12:28) which is "to edify THE CHURCH" (I Cor 14:4)! UNLESS one is "IN THE CHURCH" (Gal 1:6-9), in err!
How much plainer can WORD get?
All of profess "Christianity" aren't! 1 MUST live "AFTER THE DAY OF PENTECOST!

Clairvoyance is not the same as prophecy, Norine, as you emphatically stated in your last comment.  A person can be clairvoyant and not be prophetic.   I think you may need to check out the definition of clairvoyance in more depth.

Man's definition is not GOD'S!  I speak from WORD (I Cor 14)!  "Excorcist"  (Acts 19:13-16)!  Case and Point, MUST be "in Christ" to "edify Church;" otherwise, err!
Again, Simon ALMOST made it (Acts 8:9-24) but "heart" erred! Repent, believe WORD!

Norine, I have no doubt you have an extensive knowledge of the Bible. You're here to bash with the Bible, not to discuss.  I Know the Bible also, but at no point have I attacked with it. Even the Devil can quote scriptures.

Where did TRUTH "hit you" (Heb4:12) to change your "tone?"  GOD knows your heart & until you come into the knowledge of the TRUTH (Eph 1:17-23), you err!

Norine, God KNOWS my heart. My tone "changed" because it seems that you only badger people with the Bible. You know nothing about me, except what I share. I follow God's calling on my life each and every day. Do you? I know what my calling is.Do you?

Yes!  I have been given "gift" of wisdom and understanding of HIS WORD & have been "chosen" to tell ALL!  And yours or are you "ashamed" because not being used to edify THE CHURCH (GOD)?

Norine, I am not ashamed to share my gift with anyone, and have done so even here on HP.  You may "have been "chosen" to tell ALL!" but I've noticed, as well as others, your need to demean others.  I use my gift to elevate, not bash others.
