Do most people start articles with a paragraph or a picture?

If you use pictures do you use a boarder or not? I am finding out my score changes when I change where the picture is located. Does anyone else notice this?

I usually start mine with a picture.  Does the score go up if it is placed after the first text capsule?

I tried with a couple different articles and it seems some do better with a paragraph first. But my poems do better with a picture first. I wait more then 3 hrs after to check and there always seems to be a difference. I was wondering if any noticed.

Hey, Terrie :)So, I experimented with this last night(I always put pic first), this time I put pic after text and the scores have all gone up (some as much as 7 points)! Thank you for bringing this up, I will keep experimenting with other articles.

Yup, so I did it to all of my articles (none are poems) and the scores have risen on all.I suspect this is to do with being more google friendly. The crawler has more initial text to pull from? Just a theory.Curious to see long results

If the photo is central to the text, or the text topic, it might be better to post the photo first.  Photos are also attention grabbers, if they are good and germane to the subject.

Photos throughout a Hub draw readers onward.

Thank you Demas. That's What I noticed poems do better with photo first and my serious healdove articles do better with an intro first. Do You border the photos or leave them without?

The empty spaces seem border enough to me.

It's something I've never thought about, Terrie.   The way I do it is I write my article then save it to my Hubpages File.  Then I transfer a copy back to 'My Docs.'   This is the copy which is gradually pasted (cut and paste) into the Hubpages.

When I start, Hubpages provides firstly a text and SECONDLY a picture box.   On the right hand side there is also a button (button?) where you have the opportunity to download more text boxes AND more picture boxes.  I generally bring down about ten text boxes and four more picture boxes.

There is also a button, further down on the right hand side, which allows you to 'sort' how you want to place the picture boxes among the text boxes.

So, when I begin, I cut and past the first paragraph into the first text box.  I then select the picture box provide by the system, and place my first picture.   As I move down, placing text, then maybe another text, then a picture, I continue this until all the text has been placed...and, of course, those other four pictures.

So, in a typical Hub, I might have ten or twelve, or more text boxes, interspersed with, say, five, six, or seven picture.

I often place a portrait photo of myself in the first picture box, but no always.    Take a look at my Hubpages, that will give you an idea.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you tom that's a very informative answer. I use IPad for most of my articles and just use the little blue add bar at the left of my HubPages and add text and pictures from there. From a note book I write in first. Do you add a boarder to pictur
