Does Anyone Know Why President Trump Fired FBI Director James Comey?

Official reason: He was being mean to Hillary Clinton (Yeah, they said that) and he lost confidence in Comey's ability to lead.

Unofficial: He was investigating possible Russian Collusion among Trump's people. And,Comey poked holes in Trump's wiretap accusation.

This is a big a deal, and the Trump apologists are already trying to wrought this into a heroic deed by Trump.

Trump fired FBI Director Comey, to intimidate him into dropping the investigation into the treasonous connection between him and Putin.  If he can do this to the FBI Director what can he do to the rest of us?

In an interview with Lester Holt today, trump stated that the Russia Gate investigation was the reason he fired James Comey.

Did you see how many Democrats called for the firing of Director Comey? This TDS has gone over the edge. The media is self destructive at this point. Who will ever trust them with anything?

Mr. lee, Hillary is the victim of an evil regime that could not beat her in any way except to make up lies about her & having an email server in her home was a mistake, but is not a crime

You are so naive. Hillary set up her own email server to avoid FOIA requests. The whole pay to play with the Clinton foundation has been exposed. It was the wikileaks whistleblower that reveal many of the wrong doings behind the scene against Sanders

According to the letter copied and published on CNN, he was fired at the recommendation of the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General after they sent letters to Trump recommending his dismissal as Director of the FBI.

I'm guessing we'll have to wait until copies of those letters are released before we can know their reasons cited, but in the meantime the reason cited in the trump letter is "not able to effectively lead the Bureau".  (This is likely the result of being exposed to that same lack of ability that is epidemic in Washington.)

In the meantime, the news will do what the news does, and offer all sorts of conjectures for folks to take sides on.

Rosenstein is our second in command of the Attorney General's office. He is only about 52 and he is the longest serving US District Attorney. Obama appointed him for something. He is bad-ass and said to fire Comey. Trump should leave it at that.

The Attorney General was asked if he recommended Jim Comey be fired at the Senate Committee going on right now, his answer was "NO" and neither did the Deputy Attorney General.

President Donald Trump told Russian diplomats last week his firing of “nut job” James Comey had eased the pressure on him, even as the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation had moved into the White House, according to reports Friday that pursued the president as he began his maiden foreign trip.

There is no Russian Trump connection. As much as the media hates Trump, the TDS has taken them down a false path, one that they may never recover. Their credibility is gone from the American people.

How can you declare with certainty that there is no Russian Trump connection?  All the facts are not in yet.  His short-lived National Security Adviser Flynn clearly had connections with the Russian government, as did some of his campaign advisers.

Yes, it was an intimidation ploy, but everyone saw through it immediately. Like he said to the Russians in the Oval Office, he needed to get Comey off of the Trump-Russia investigation, Apparently, he thought Jim Comey was smart enough to figure out the connection.

The investigation will reveal lots of things he doesn't want us to know.  Many may term out to be impeachable offensives.  Some may turn out to be criminal.  Flynn is a prime example of his knowing crooked dealings.  It seems Trump went to the heads of other intelligence agencies to get them to say publicaly, "There is no there there!  Let's move on!"  He thinks he's running Trump International and producing his reality show.
