Would you rather live a short rich life or a poor long life?
Short life meaning 35 years or less. Poor life meaning, struggling to find something to eat everyday. What is your meaning of life? How do you make the best of it?
I don't know if this answers your question, but I believe that a good life is a purposeful life regardless of any financial situation or the amount of years one gets to exist on this planet. And if a specific purpose cannot be found, we can use the common purpose of trying to do good. Many people have experienced both poverty and wealth in their lifetimes, and many spend their lives somewhere in between. The idea is to have purpose and fulfillment in our lives. Have a nice day.
A short life lived in material opulence is like a blind life; having eyes but no eyes; ears but not hearing. A short life lived in inner opulence is a heavenly life and far superior.
A poor long life is no better really, unless it is infused with the Spirit. You see, I'm bringing in this crucial element. With God, short or long life, poor or rich life is still meaningful, because it is infused with the Spirit. In other words, the individual is conscious of the living presence of God inside him.
Actually, if one is spiritually advanced but not yet a realised soul, it is only then that a long life becomes meaningful, as it gives him/her the opportunity to become one with God in this life or body.
When one is conscious of the divine, the more progress in one lifetime, the better it is for the individual. But he/she must be a devotee of the Lord with a life receptive to the Higher forces raining down below.

Being from California, I'm mostly used to earthquakes. I say "mostly" because the 1989 Loma Prieta quake was the first time I thought I might actually die. I was taking refuge under the table in my office at the time and had never felt such a rockin' and rollin' quake like that. In my...
