Please help- me understand the suggestions they are making

   They are suggesting I make these changes to my article. I have no idea what they are talking about.

   I noticed that you have at least two urls to videos in your article. Did you know that HubPages provides content capsules for videos? There is a field within the video capsule where you can insert the appropriate video url.

   I also noticed that your paragraphs are much too long which could compromise a reader’s attention span. I suggest that you break your paragraphs into smaller components to alleviate the issue.

   Unless I have failing eyesight or am having problems with my browser, I do not see any words in your article that are in boldface or italics. Have you made any changes to your article recently?

   I agree with Gregory and add tighten up your sentences. Meaning, edit out the "and" and replace with period, new sentence.

   Hi Thomas.
   
   Your article deals with a very important issue. For that reason I wish to help you get it published.
   
   First of all, find a catching good quality square image (600 x 600 pixels) to put at the very top of the article. It should be square to fit the thumbnail that will appear on your profile page.
   You can change images sizes and add text (article title)  with Paint.net a free easy to use photo editing program so your image can be shared on Pinterest and social media to attract viewers . Now for the article:
   
   Formula for a successful article
   
   1.) Say what you are going to say - submit a problem or question = Short Introduction.
   
   2.) Say it  - This is the main content of the article. Here you offer possible solutions/suggestions to the problem with content split up into short  text capsules (= no more than 10-15 lines), each with a comprehensive heading/headline so readers are enticed to read on. You can also use sub-headings (H3), numbering (as I've done here) or bullet points to further break up the text) where necessary.
   
   3.) Say what you said (recap in a "Conclusion" text capsule)
   
   My Opinion: It seems to me that you are passing the buck to the parents and schools. What parents need to do  now without fail to make schools safer is to rise up in unity and  lobby their government to ignore the NRA and tighten up gun control laws which is the main reason for the  insane number of school shootings in the U.S. compared to other (more civilized) countries as shown in the illustration below.
   
   
   Please feel free to right-click and save the above image so you can include it in your article if you wish.
   
   You could add a Poll capsule asking readers what they feel about the issue.
   
   Finally, I would end the article with some references to your sources that support your claims/suggestions so that the article is not just about what YOU think should be done but is backed up by research to give it more credibility. So I usually end an article with a final text capsule headed: "Sources" with at least 3 links to valid research sources. I am including one here. Hopefully you can find a couple more.

   Your advice is a very nice one that shows your helpful attitude. But, the images should not be square-sized. Rectangular images with more width and less height are best for any type of article that should be more appealing and attractive. The thumbnail images catch automatically. They don't need squares.

      Only the first image needs to be a square especially if it has text on it. Believe me I had to change some of my top pictures and make them square because part of the text on them was cut off in the thumbnail on my profile page.

      Venkatachari M, I read your advice and yes the capsule on hub pages said it only accepts video from youtube and vimeo. If you could give me that advice here instead in the comment section of the article it would be greatly appreciated so that I can refer back to it often. Also so it won't show on the article itself. Thanks for the advice.

   Thomas, I also agree that your topic is very important. Just to let you know, I taught public school in Philadelphia for years and problems like you discuss did not exist back then. Yes, there was violence in the Philadelphia schools but not what we are seeing almost daily everywhere. I live in Pittsburgh now and we have seen our share of threats, shootings, etc. throughout the city and suburbs.
