Finally Moved My Last Article To a Niche Site!

   It took two years, but I finally did it. But normally since so much editing and work is needed to get the articles up to standard, they are still added to the top spot of the Profile page so readers know you have moved a rewritten piece to a niche site.
   
   This one wasn't, and I was told that was because it "was an old article." What a kick in the ass! I felt celebratory since it was the last article that had to be moved, and believe it deserves to be listed on my Profile just as every other article did when it was moved to a niche. Many of them were "old" articles that had to be fixed up to get on a niche. You all know how hard it is to make all those changes, and how much work goes into moving older pieces from the Hubpages graveyard, while trying to write new material as well.
   
   Has anyone else experienced this? I was so disappointed. Sigh.

      My last one was moved a little over 24 hours ago as well. So I know what you mean, the only difference is that I do not have 100's. I had just one that needed to go and it took me a year to edit that one to finally get it done. Just published a new hub a few minutes ago, so that's still unfeatured, but I'm sure it will move to Dengarden as soon as they get to it.
      
      I still have one, the SEO guide on HP, but it needs to stay put as I need to point to the hubpages domain and niche sites are not allowed to point back to HP.
      
      How is Exemplore doing?

         I have a hub that has been hanging fire for more than two years.  It's been rejected twice.  The second time, I just got the standard email so I emailed back and asked for more specifics.  I did get a detailed reply, so I will try editing and submitting it again this summer.  Maybe three times is the charm!

            The third times the charm for sure It happened with one of my hubs too two years ago.
            
            About updating hubs on niche sites, it may be never-ending, but it's needed maintenance that makes it do better (most of the time).

               Updating has worked for a few of my hubs so I keep at it.  I've also started updating articles on my own website.  Between the two sites, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.

         Hi Brandon,
         Exemplore performed a bit worse after the holiday season and never really picked up for me. I made the lowest payment this month I've made in a year. But hope springs eternal. Normally I do pretty well there, as a large percentage of my work is on that niche, and it seems to attract a good audience.
         
         I am glad to hear you are doing well too! Slow and steady wins the race, right? I never thought I could get all those hubs moved, but it finally happened. In a way I am spoiled, now I have to write more new material! But I do think it should be listed on my profile, as many of my others were old too. I felt bad since it was the last one. Years of work went into moving all those articles.

            Years of work went into moving them, that's intense Hopefully, Exemplore will pick up soon. I assume you've already got some new ideas for new hubs while editing those older ones.

               Yes, I keep a running list of ideas. I cast and interpret astrology charts and do tarot readings online, so although I love writing here, I can't spend as much time doing it as I used to. But I do enjoy it. And the pay usually is better. The lull I experienced after the holidays never really got better so far. It's making me feel unmotivated.

      Congrats.  I still have about a year to go.  Plus now I am updating my old hubs that are already on niche sites.  I feel like all of this updating is neverending.

         Oh, I know that feeling well! But stay with it, it does happen. Just work at it little by little. We haven't been hit with any large changes for a long time now (fingers crossed)!

   I'm not too keen on having my articles moved to niche sites other than Dengarden or Letterpile. The other sites seem to be the death of readership. I worked so hard on a travel article hoping to do more of that type. It did well for the first few days, but when it was  moved to WanderWisdom, it died a slow agonizing death. I've been thinking of asking that it be moved back. Does your traffic pick up on the niche sites, as opposed to the generic Hubpages site, Jean?

      Yes, my traffic almost always picks up quite a bit when an article is moved to a niche site. My work is mostly on Exemplore, but I have quite a bit on Owlcation, and probably the third most popular spot for my work is Letterpile. I didn't agree writing about a couple of people with certain personality traits for astrology purposes was creative writing. I must have two people in a relationship so I can identify them and refer to how they will act romantically according to their astrology signs to demonstrate my point. But the powers that be don't see it that way.
      
      I am sick of arguing, and I drive a lot of traffic to Exemplore. I still believe that last article should be listed on my profile page, the person who made the decision is someone I never heard of, and anything we move from HP to a niche is by definition "an old article." It took years to move them all after updating and rewriting. But it falls on deaf ears.
      
      I have one article on many niches. I never tried Wander Wisdom, although I had an article about Jamaica and my impressions of it the first time I went. I went other times (I love it) but now have political observations to add, so may write a new article.
      
      But I've had success with mostly anything that was moved to a niche.

   Congratulations Jean. It took me about two years to get all the remaining hubs moved too. I kept submitting one every 14 days without missing a beat.
   
   A couple of times they requested changes, which I did, and then they were moved. I had one instance where they chose a different niche site than the one I wanted. But after some back and forth emails, I got them to see my reasoning. 
   
   Letterpile the worst. It doesn’t seem to have much ranking with Google. I’m glad they moved several of my hubs out of there over a year ago when they were doing a massive rearrangement of Letterpile. They felt a better place was ToughNickel and Owlcation for several of my Letterpile hubs. How did that work out for others who had hubs there?
   
   After all is said and done, I find the best performing niches for me are TurboFuture, PairedLife, Owlcation and AxleAddict.
   
   Even though all my hubs are now moved, I still continue to update them as needed. I keep an eye on Google Analytics to see which hubs need my attention.

      Yes, we have to stay diligent. I get some traffic on Letterpile, because my whole Venus series is there, so aspiring astrology students find those articles. But I didn't believe they belonged there, they are instructional articles. I gave up, the editors don't want to see it my way. Sometimes a writer must use two people or characters to illustrate their interactions. But it's not worth it, the people deciding didn't have to do all that rewriting.
      
      I have a lot of articles on Owlcation, and they do well. I don't have anything on Tough Nickle. And of course, most of my work is on Exemplore, which went down after the holidays and never quite recovered. But hopefully, it will.
