“Today Nancy Pelosi wrote a  Dear colleague letter announcing she will bring a resolution to the Floor that will stand to affirms the ongoing, existing impeachment inquiry investigation.  Pelosi said in a letter made public Oct 28  the resolution will establish the procedure for hearings that are open to the American people, authorizes the disclosure of deposition transcripts, outlines procedures to transfer evidence to the Judiciary Committee as it considers potential articles of impeachment. It also sets forth due process rights for the President and his Counsel.

Pelosi had previously disregarded the loud calls from Republicans to hold a formal vote authorizing the impeachment probe. She accused Republicans of attempting to avoid allegations against the president by keeping the focus on what they called an unfair impeachment process.  Republicans complained openly that Democratic leaders, Pelosi and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff were conducting an investigation in the dark.

Pelosi notes  in the letter that  the Democrats are “taking this step to eliminate any doubt as to whether the Trump Administration may withhold documents, prevent witness testimony, disregard duly authorized subpoenas, or continue obstructing the House of Representatives.” The vote is expected to come as soon as Thursday.

President Trump made it clear he would not cooperate with the impeachment inquiry until a vote was taken. Look like Nancy may be calling Trump's buff...

The question is will President Trump cooperate now that he will get the vote he asked for?  Any other thoughts on the twists and turns of this impeachment inquiry?

He has no choice but to fight it, Shar. Nancy has played it well and there's already enough evidence to impeach him in the House. Of course, those on the Right in the Senate don't care if he broke his oath of office and obstructed justice. But they will when the hearings are live....

If "cooperation" means will Trump state he violated the law, or in any other method convict himself, I rather highly doubt it.

He won't have to, Dan. Sondland is now saying it was indeed a quid pro quo Trump was asking for and he--Sondland--advised him as such. Besides, Trump will never sit down for an interview as he knows he lies too much. What did he say about people who take the 5th? Sure you remember....

A few weeks ago he stated he would not cooperate, and the WH has held up some from testifying. It will be interesting to see if he continues to stop witnesses from testifying.

"The Trump administration has attempted to block a key witness from testifying in the impeachment inquiry by claiming “constitutional immunity.” And that witness — former deputy national security adviser Charles Kupperman — has asked a judge to rule whether his testimony can proceed as planned."

Well if he cooperates it certainly will show he meant it when he claimed he would cooperate if a vote was taken.

Do you really think he'll cooperate, Shar? As much as you believed Mexico would pay for the wall?

No one ever knows what he will do...  I almost think he will cooperate, but I would not bet on it. This is going to be very interesting.

I wonder want happens if the vote doesn't pass? Does things continue as they are currently? Or does it all stop?

Good question... I would think if the vote fails the impeachment inquiry would not be continued. Dead in its tracks by the will of the Congressional majority.

Whatever you think of Pelosi, this is well played. It kills three birds with one stone: 1. It removes a line of attack against the process; 2. Doing this immediately after a federal court confirmed the impeachment enquiry is valid even without a vote, means she can legitimately say this was a choice not a requirement; 3. Refusal to cooperate with the inquiry now just looks obstructive. I suspect obstruction might be one of the articles of impeachment, so this move strengthens a possible future charge. It's a good move by Pelosi.

I agree with all three. And yes if the WH does not cooperate it will look like there are things to hide. It would seem to be a good move, on her part.

The vote is well-timed because it comes after damaging testimony from a series of Trump administration officials.

The new testimony from Colonel Vindman is especially damaging.

The live hearings will be very interesting, and hopefully we the public will get an idea of what the Dems have hung their hat on in regards to charges.

It's about time. I'm ready for transparency. I would think, if the democrats aren't total idiots, this means they have found something very damaging.

Despite the posturing of the Right, Nancy has handled this situation very well. Yes, there's nothing much worse than what Trump is accused of by very astute people in the govt.

What Trump is accused of doesn't appear to offend democrats when others in their party do it. Heck. They definitely don't want an investigation into their shenanigans.

But, I agree. If the accusations prove true it is bad. Very bad.

Which Democrat blackmailed a foreign government to investigate their political rival?  Pathetic attempt at deflection.

If you mean a sitting president using foreign agencies to do work strictly prohibited by our government in order to disparage a political rival we will see after that probe is complete.

Barr showed his true colors when he misrepresented the Mueller Report.  The fact that you would trust anything he does from that point forward shows how much of the Kool Aid you've been drinking and how those of use with deductive reasoning skills left won't put much credence in your opinions.

It would seem they found something. It would look bad to proceed if they have no charges that can be proven.
