Cuties is now on Netflix. Thoughts?

   While I can't say I've seen the movie nor do I intend to, I have read and seen various reviews about the movie already.   
   
   Many of which aren't good.   According to the director of the film, cuties is about an 11 year old girl in a coming of age story rebelling against her family's strong conservative upbringing while also vilifying and adding social commentary to western culture as well for sexualizing young girls..... while sexualizing young girls to do it .....     Again I haven't seen the movie myself so please take what I'm saying with a grain of salt but from reading various reviews on the film itself it seems the movie borders on the line of child pornography which isn't a good thing.   
   
   Needless to say this has angered many Netflix subscribers into cancelling their subscriptions to the service which isn't good for Netflix considering with all these streaming services coming up, you'd think they'd want to avoid bad press like this; especially while you're losing your big guns like "the office", and etc to other streaming services.   
   
   While the name of the director of this film alludes me as I forget her name, she has reportedly received various death threats from people over this movie, which prompted her to defend herself publicly stating that the advertising of this movie was grossly misleading.   
   
   However what are your thoughts on this?   Is the backlash towards all parties involved in this film deserved?    Or do you think people aren't giving this film a fair chance?
   
   Me personally?    I have zero plans to watch the movie at all but my word of advice to people is the same one I told people when they kept bitching about the transformers films and the live action Disney remakes.   If you don't like something that a studio distributes or puts out then vote with your wallet.  Don't give them any money.  It's that simple.  If you don't want Michael bay to direct transformers films then stop seeing his films on transformers.  If you want to stop the live action Disney remakes then stop paying money to see them.   
   
   If you don't want Netflix to distribute content like cuties then don't subscribe to their service or if you're already a subscriber then cancel your service immediately.  It's that simple. 
   
   I'm not telling anyone here to do that but I am saying that we as consumers have a voice and the best way to make Hollywood understand that is to hit them where it hurts.  Their wallets so remember that.  Anyways what are your thoughts?

      I have read all that has been said about Cuties, but it is not true or fair.
      It is funny how people get all upset about a film that shows girls behaving like adults, but when they see the same thing happening in everyday life nobody finds it incorrect.
      Following that same logic, why are we not upset about children being exposed in social media?
      The film is not trying to normalize the sexualization of kids. The sexualization of kids is normal already, and has been for a while.
      Some scenes might be too crude for some expectators, but all that it shows is true. Instead of canceling Netflix, we should be discussing how to change that situation.
      Of course you are free to think what you like, but I would advice you to watch the movie yourself to draw your own conclusions.

         You make some valid arguments, but after hearing a few lawyers on youtube claim based on the content that "Cuties" allegedly contains within it's film, they said it could count as child exploitation and pornography even if the girls aren't naked, which means you can go to jail for merely watching the film.  Granted, these same lawyers did admit they haven't seen the movie either, and I have yet to hear about anyone going to jail for watching the film, but why take that chance?
         
         Seriously, knowing my luck, I'll probably end up being the only asshole that goes to jail for watching it, while everyone else that saw it doesn't.     Not that I would want to watch it anyways because from reading the various film reviews about it, I don't think I would like the movie at all based on what I've heard about it.  Plus, every review I've read and seen about it (whether be good or bad) did claim that there were various close up shots of the girl's privates, so I have to assume that has to be true as I would find it hard to believe that many people would conspire to lie about something like that.
         
         And assuming that's in the movie, I doubt I would like the film at all.  Seriously, why would I want to watch close up shots of a little girl's ass, crotch or breasts while they dance?  No...just no.  Hard pass.   
         
         I'll read your review later if that's okay as I only came on briefly to check my notifications here, but thanks for your input on the topic at hand.

   I just read an online article about this movie and shared it to FB. I did not realize at the time that scenes from the movie were included in the article and after going back and watching a couple of those scenes, I felt sick to my stomach and removed the article immediately.
   
   Instead, I explained myself and urged Parents to do their own research!
   
   It is very disturbing and there is no doubt, these 11-year old little girls are being sexually exploited.

      I feel the same way honestly.  After reading interviews that the director did on this film, I would tend to ask why couldn't you have aged up the characters to be 18 at the very least, and you could have very easily have told the exact same story with 18 year old teens instead.  But the fact that it features 11 year old girls?  And according to imdb, they actually have various long and excessive close up shots of their breasts, bums and crotches?  And it's rated M?   I'm sorry but I tend to wonder who the hell this was this film even made for.   This is just wrong on so many levels.  Normally, I tend to give every movie a fair chance prior to even seeing it.
      
      However, I'm going to make a huge exception here, and give "Cuties" a hard pass.  I don't even care if the movie wins various film awards like it did at the Sundance film festival earlier this year, as I ain't going to see it.

   Netflix did a study of the demographics of those watching and subscribing to their service.  They realized pedophiles were amazingly missing from the demographics.

      Apparently the film won an award for "Best Director" at the Sundance Film Festival...the same Sundance Film Festival that I learned recently was co founded by a guy that sexually assaulted a minor.  Hence why I told my family I'm no longer going to support Sundance anymore, nor acknowledge any awards that it gives out to movies.
