How about a Link back to...

   How about a link back from the new sites to the author site? When we first publish, most of the time the article is on the old site before being moved to the new. But sometimes it goes straight to the new site, which means we miss out on comments. Or more to the point other people can read our articles, but not comment.
   So maybe on the top corner, you could put a small mark to quickly flick back to their original hubpages so we can comment? It would save having to add comments to the new sites, and we would still be in touch with our other authors and friends.

      Nell, comments will be integrated into the niche sites and Discover in the first half of 2021. Until then, we can comment by (laboriously) scrolling thru our feeds to find the articles to which we'd like to comment. We just need to be patient. It took many weeks of hubbers making our desires known on the forums to get HP to agree to introduce comments to the Maven format. This means hiring a programmer to reconfigure the software. We need to have comments enabled so readers who come from outside the HP community can leave their thoughts and perhaps ask questions. I don't know about you, but most of my readers come from Google, not within HP.
      
      Until the requested changes are made, we need to work with what we have. We haven't been completely cut off from each other. You just need to put forth effort into the workaround. Of course, there's always email. Each of us has a Contact the Author button.
      
      Be patient, my friend. Our time is coming!

   I can guarantee that they will never consider adding a link back to HubPages.com.
   
   The whole point of Discovery and the niche sites is that Google hates HubPages.com.  So if the new sites had links back to HubPages.com, it would be a black mark against them in Google's eyes.   
   
   The goal has always been to divorce the new sites from the old HubPages.com as far as possible.  I'm sure if they could think of a way to get rid of it, they would - but they need it as a "back office" and a "slush pile" of articles to choose from, so it stays.
   
   I have wondered about starting up a site where we could all post more "social" articles and comment and debate freely between ourselves, until comments come back (I fear it will be months). If we don't do something, I fear that by the time comments are enabled here, everyone will have given up and gotten out of the habit.  However, I've suggested it to a few people and it seems most people are feeling so negative about the whole thing, they can't get up the enthusiasm!
