Hi Hubbers,
I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process.
I am confused by QAP's "spammy" assessment - there are no links, no product mentions, no self-promotion in the article.
Will you please give feedback on my article? What can I do to improve? Thanks!
Here is my article: 7 Things to Know About Garage Doors (must be signed in to view)
I have to quibble with your #1 point - that overhead garage doors are impossible to lift without an automatic opener. When I was a child (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth), no one had automatic openers. No one, including the older children, had any trouble lifting the doors. Perhaps you want to omit that "fact".
You are right. That's a bit of hyperbole on my part. Wouldn't have thought of it as "spammy" though. Appreciate the feedback.
It's not spammy, but I'm certain that the editors don't appreciate "hyperbole" or incorrect "facts." You have to keep in mind that when you write on this site, everything in your articles is a reflection on the entire site.
If you were writing your own blog, of course you would be free to exaggerate all that you want. But when you are writing on someone else's site, you must be mindful of their site's reputation and authority.
Hello there,
The spammy element is in the article bio where you mention your app.
Also, a lot of the content is very similar to other material on the web. You may have tripped the duplicate content filter.
Hmm..one of my other recent hubs was featured, and I used the same text in the bio.
Perhaps you are right about the content. I wish they would use a different characterization in that case than "spammy".
I do appreciate your feedback.
I'm not sure why they called it "spammy", but I think it would help your article a great deal to include some photos to make it clear about the parts and the type of door you describe. My garage door is made of four hinged aluminum panels. When pulled or pushed up they fold and slide easily onto the overhead frame. Though the system is set up to recieve an automatic opener, I do not have one. It is really not too hard to lift, even for an elderly lady like me.
I think you've included a lot of good facts in the article, but I agree with what other people have said. I also noticed some other points that you might consider changing. You say that the garage door that you describe is "now a standard feature in all homes." It would be good to mention what part of the world you are referring to. I doubt whether all new homes being built around the world have the door.
Your title says that you are going to describe seven things to know about garage doors, but the "Seven Things" section is only one part of the article. Perhaps you could indicate that there is more information in the title. In addition, I think a caption and source under the photo would be helpful.
