    I'm sure this has been discussed before, but being new, I'm throwing it out there.  Who is your favorite villian - books, movies, tv, whatever?  Book-wise, mine would be the husband from "Rose Madder."  That guy is creepy as hell.  Movie-wise, gotta be Maleficent.

    This is touuuugh.

    Movie-wise, I don't remember his name, but I love Gary Oleman's villian in Leon: The Professional.

    Book-wise, I can't choose. sad I like that crusty villian from Twelfth Night by Shakespeare I guess.

      Leon.  Good one.  Love him biting down on whatever that is that he bites down on.

      I spelled "villain" wrong, just noticed.  Sorry.

    Edgler Vess in the Dean Koontz book, Intensity.  John McGinley played the character in the movie.

      Wow, Tommy.  I didn't even THINK to pick a book villain!  With that said, I'll go with Randall Flagg from Stephen King's The Stand!  That guy IS evil incarnate!

        Awww Elmer couldn't shoot straight.  He couldn't hurt a fly. The same can't be said for PETA.

    This is a kind of harmless one (compared to other villains), but I liked Queen Narissa in Disney's "Enchanted".  I'm not much of a fan of the more "realistic" villains; and Susan Serandon made a great (and humorous) evil queen.

    He's not a villain as such but Francis Begbie in Trainspotting, a total psycho, one of the best characters ever, book and film.

    I have a few that stand out for completely different reasons.

    Ozymandias from Watchmen for having such a calculated, cold, and strange sense of morality;

    The Joker, specifically from the Dark Knight, for his obsession with chaos and ruined vision of humankind;

    Sephiroth from the video game Final Fantasy 7, for being so egocentric as to think of himself as something of a God;

    and Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood, for his tragic and impenetrable hatred of people.

    from movies--I'd have to go with Magneto from the X Men movies

    books--hmm...I guess probably Hannibal Lecter

    from movies definitely kevin spacey's character in "seven".  such an intelligent evil - there something oddly respectful, creepily artistic in his portrayl.

    books - Kate in John Steinbeck's "East of Eden".  He truly shows her degeneration into her lies and manipulations.  it's quite a poignant portrayl of human depravity.

    Christian Slater in Very Bad Things, but I'm not sure if that counts.  I'd have to say Ursula from The Little Mermaid is pretty bad-a.
