What type of health system you prefer?

    1.  You believe in socialized medicine

    Or

    2.  the health system should be just for the people that can afford it.  If you can't, well start saving!!

    Tell me your impressions.

    Thanks.

Thats not a fair question! I believe government needs to stay out of our pockets and our lives. That said, we need something! First thing we need to do is get the millions of illegal aliens out of here because we can't afford anything that includes them, sorry. No taxpayer abortions, period! Basic healthcare should be available for all working Americans, all working Americans, all WORKING Americans.

You frame the question this way, Are you for socialized medicine or are you for dying in the streets?

        How about

Are you for socialized medicine or do you think private insurance is better?

I mean if you want to show what you believe then go ahead but you will get guys like me and Misha that pounce on it in a negative way. Your thread do it however you want.

I've added three words there. A system which relies on private insurance would be fine, provided:

          1.  Everyone can afford private health insurance and
          2.  The private insurance system is run for the good of the customers, not with the intent of ripping the customers off in favour of making the owners rich.

From what I understand, neither of those situations prevails in the US right now.

And if they can't afford private insurance? Then the ones who can will have to pay more to cover those people. Like everything else the government touches the result will be less care for more money, my money!

Please explain?  Are you saying that if people can't afford private health insurance, they can just suffer (or die)?

Whats to explain? If there is socialized medicine then I will have to suffer the burden of paying more so others can receive health care. In this Country all anyone has to do is claim indigence and they will receive health care.

If the cost of Health care is too expensive then open up insurance to be sold across state lines, competition will lower the cost. Tort reform is another way to drive down the cost of health care, but this Presidents only idea is government controlled health care!

If you need evidence that government cannot manage the health care system you need to look no further than Medicaid and Medicare or visit a veterans hospital!

No need to be mean peeps.  Geez!

All Americans KNOW that unless they have health coverage they are screwed.  My guess is that the peeps being rude here are all covered.

But they KNOW that millions are not - so that says to me, they simply don't care.

I live in a country with SM; I think it's great!  It is not nearly as great as France, but still great!

<<" Are you for socialized medicine or do you think private insurance is better?">>

I am going to accept the euphemism.

What Health Insurance company do is minimize the "standard of care" in the health system.  Many times they denied "first choice treatments" for an alternate cheap cost treatment.  Then we go to our home with a prescription, and we feel happy because we have a great health insurance comp. that will pay for the drug, but in reality that drug is not as efficient as the one your insurance company denied you(so they can stay with your money).

So there is a lot of money that you pay to the insurance company that will end up  in anything but your health.  If we eliminate those intermediaries, the money you invest in your health will stay there.  Then there will be millions of dollar available to try to build an State of the Art Health System.  Or at least try to approximate to that, since nothing is problem free.

      "NO SOCIALISED MEDICINE, EVER!"

Insurance Boards of Experts;Cost Control Pannels. Pre-determined coverage, who needs that?

Here is a real time story, that I am going through right now; YOU TELL ME GUYS...

It has to do with Cigna Insurance Co. Beware of the Sales Pitch!

I am a Type 2 Diabetic, on Meds that My Doctor an Internal Medicine Specialist put me on, because my original medicines stopped working, due to my age, and the advancement of the Disease, ( The state of the Disease in my Body)

I was throwing up, passing out at work, my meds were not working.
I was tested and found they were wrong for me.  I was put on the right ones, reversed the disease and have stayed off insulin.

My Doctor did all of it by experience and testing and working with me.

Three weeks to the date of my new Meds. CIGNA Insurance sent me a Letter. FROM AN INDIAN DOCTOR in Bopal, Inda, who maintains an administrative office only, in Washington DC and sits on CIGNA's review board.

She does not practice active medicine, just sits on the Cost Cutting Board at CIGNA in Washington DC! ( A Hierd, Quack, foregin Hit-man!)

In Short they, CIGNA, refuse to pay for my meds because I dont need them for Type 2 Diabetes, in other words I dont fit their text book senario for type 2 Diabetes. It is a frigin loop-hole to deny my coverage. And it is being allowed!

They pay for one type of Medicine only, and nothing else, and those meds caused the Problem for me, in the first place.

They accept 189.00 a month from me for my part of the premium, while my company pays the rest, and they (CIGNA) will not pay for the meds I need, and "will" dictate to my doctor what I can have.

This doctor does not practice Medicine, is an Administrator for an Insurance Co! She has never examined me, or spoken to my doctor, EVER!

My Doctor has 25 years experience as an Internal Medicine Specialist, and is also a Teaching Physician at Vanderbuilt Medical Center!

I asked a Lawyer here in Nashville to look into going after her across the States. he said quote; CIGNA is on Protected status, you can not sue them directly, you would have to sue her singley, and to do it you would have to file in India, and The US Goverment has to grant permission for you to, under international Law, and they will not give permission to Private Citizens! Is that not lovely?

Without my Insurance, it is 1138.00 a month for my Meds!

Now, I ask you to please think about this Obama crap, and this so called Board of Experts they will put in place to help control costs. He promises he will not get between you and your Doctor.

BUT... The Insurqnce Co's Like CIGNA are already putting these chop and run Boards in place to establish legal president, they are not stupid, their Lawyers know how to make them rich. There will be all knds of Legislative loop-holes like the one I am in. Be aware, Please dont follow blindly, ask questions, hard questions.

Please know this is a real example, I have the papers and letters to back it up.

We need Insurance law reform, and cost effective polocies that really cover folks, ones that companies can not default on with loop-holes or soft Judges.

We need Hospital Billing laws and reforms, to keep the costs in line and reasonable.

The Goverment Coverage, we be pre-determined- dictated coverages, of limited treatment schedules. Controled by cost cutting Boards. It will asume you are the problem, you are asking for more care, than you really need. And thus cut your need back to save costs. It will tell the Hospitals and Doctors what to do.

And,It will be never what you will really need when you are truly sick, but just enough to look like a good effort thats above the law.

We need free market choice, competition between companies for your earned business. We need low premiums and coverage that pays as your Doctor determines your need. Not the Goverment.
