    Dear all,

When I refresh my profile and see my latest contributions, I am always dejected to see the automatic listing stating:

"You became the fan of XYZ and you left this fan mail which has not been approved."

May I tactfully suggest a marginal amendment?

"You became the fan of XYZ and you left this fan mail which has not yet been approved."

I don't think anybody has rejected my fan mail or comments, and I'm sure it is the same for the vast majority of hubbers. It would be good for the message to be positive!

When someone leaves me fan mail, and I haven't done anything to it, my Hubtivity shows a statement that reads "So-and-so left you fan mail which you have not yet approved."

If I accept it, it changes to "which you have approved."

If I reject it, it changes to "which you have not approved."

What you are seeing is probably accurate to what action has taken place.  If people are rejecting your fan mails, you might wish to reconsider what you are saying to them.

As far as I know, nobody has rejected my fan mail. My question concerns the message on my own profile which currently appears with a negative connotation "..which has not been approved." - it suggests that my fan mail might never be approved!

Most users return a positive outcome to fan mail (by approving it, as you show). The insertion of the word "yet" gives hope and presents the possibility of success.

Hmm...pjd, you're so detail-oriented! lol Anyway, I agree with you that the word "yet" will add a positive connotation to the message.

Thanks Om Paramapoonya - I take that as a compliment! It comes from my days as an early user of Apple Macs, where the system software sometimes used to produce messages such as "Why did you press that key? Are you mentally deranged or something?" I'm still suffering from that abuse!!!

I have never noticed that, but I have noticed that when you leave comments to hubs where the comment box is manually approved before showing, the same detail is left in your hubtivity:
"You posted this unapproved comment to the hub  * * * "  So you don't know if the person has not yet had a chance to approve/deny your comment OR the person has already denied the comment.

This is the same negative feel as the fan mail has not been approved versus has not yet been approved.

Those sound like reasonable suggestions, I'll see what I can do.

    Good point Whitney.

Paul - many thanks for your assistance - I'm only trying to improve an already excellent service by HubPages (and, judging for all of the contributions on this board, so is everyone else!).

I also support pjdscott's viewpoint if the slight modification of language may be helpful for increasing people's affinity with hubpages, there is no harm in becoming graceous.

Many thanks HubPages - I'm very impressed! The message has changed and is now reading:, as suggested:

"You became the fan of NAME and you left this fan mail which has not yet been approved."

Well done - personally, I feel the message is so much more positive.

I've never had this happen to me before. It is possible that your messages are being rejected by the hubber. Another possibility is that you have posted spam messages before and they are getting auto-denied. I don't really know if that happens but it is a possibility. Anyway, It may have been amended before I joined HP.

I noticed this too when I first started following recent hubpages activity through hubtivity page and was pleased to see when the "yet" was added.  Now I know who to thank for suggesting it. smile  Thanks, pjdscott.
