Hubpages closure

   With Hubpages closing down, should we delete our articles so we can use them elsewhere or will they delete them?

      I think they are leaving the site up but we will no longer make any money and we will lose access to the dashboard to edit them in Feburary.

      I've been moving my articles for some time. Now, I will speed up the process and get it all done sooner rather than later.

   I would not count on them deleting any content. Nothing I read felt like they were saying Discover is getting shut down.
   
   "You may leave your content up on hubpages.com for users to continue to read." They are essentially encouraging us to keep our content live for "readers" (without pay); while also saying our type of content creation is no longer the future.
   
   I only have 2 articles live as I removed everything initially after the niche sites went solo, but I'm going to delete them now as well. No sense waiting until the "deadline", when I'm only making pennies anyway.

   Access to your existing account will remain active until at least the end of February 2026. At this time, we encourage authors to make copies of your content.'
   
   Personally, I would suggest to start moving your content to another platform ASAP and start encouraging your followers to follow you there, or better still, your own website.
   
   WordPress is easy to use, no coding knowledge needed (loads of YouTube tutorials if you need help), you will just need a domain name, roughly $10/year and hosting, $10/month, less if you pay for a yearly subscription.  There are many hosting options available, I suggest you do your own research and read reviews before deciding on how much you want to spend.
   
   The main advantage with having your own website is you can put as many ads/Amazon links as you like and it won't shut down like HubPages, or Squidoo (for those who transferred here from there!)

   Well, this sucks. Totally expected this would happen sooner or later, of course, but it's still a bummer to hear it made official.
   
   All my stuff has been unpublished since late last year, but I guess I'd better get to makin' backup copies of them and then deletin' em.

   Since I am not going to stop writing, where can I (we) go to post our articles and make few dollars? One mentioned Word Press, but I am sure there are others. Being in charge of your own site sounds like work but it might be more profitable???

      I'm going to try the free Wordpress.com option first and see what traffic I get, even though ad revenue isn't really an option with that (some ad revenue is possible I think). If traffic is anyway decent, I'll upgrade to a paid hosting and domain subscription. I don't want to pay anything if I don't have to yet. Then, as I understand it, it's possible to migrate to Wordpress.org to have more control over a website.
      Doing all the manual copying and pasting is going to be a pain.
      Wordpress has an awful, badly-designed, user-unfriendly, unintuitive interface. To be honest,  I can't make any sense of it with menus that change and update as one navigates around the site.

   Good luck with Wordpress. Not sure where I am going. I have been working on my YouTube channel recently and published another book on Amazon. I feel sorry for young people who want to be writers; AI seems to be winning the day.

   I was a member here since the Days of some of the iconic hubpages users. Mark Knowles, Sunforged, Ryan kett, Melissa, wryllit, Misha,  Casgil, Sufi, Habby, sandyspider, lakeerrieartist and many others. I was young at that time and now reaching mid age. All the writers here put an impact on me. I am kind of shaken because recently when I started googling back a lot of Hubpages are authors were reported as no more with time and their families posted about it. The scary part is you took refuge on this site in past and seen these people thrive and then they are gone from the time and you are watching all of this and not much grown like they did in life.
   
   Finally this place is going away too. It's like Time's message to me to move on and find my own peace. In the age of AI where people wont matter much, memories dont matter much glad to have lived on such communities in the past. Thanks for that.
   
   I know there are other places like dreamwidth, wattpad, livejournal, tumblr and wordpress but community feeling was alive on squidoo and hubpages. Both are now lost in sands of time.
   
   If old users see this comment yeah I remembered you. See you around if life gives chance to talk to you.
   
   I know post-2015 time users don't know me much here. But yeah good luck to you too guys.

   We need not to delete until we get a better opportunity elsewhere. The site is not closing down, in fact only new contributions would not be accepted.
   what other members feel about it ?
   however keeping a copy makes sense.

    Does anyone know of good tools to download content faster? I have over 200 articles still on multiple accounts. There were ones like Sitesucker at one point which worked well.
    
    I'm thinking of moving over to Medium; they recently announced their payment program will include organic traffic, so even if there's not much traffic, it may bring in a few cents.
    
    Most of my content is in different topics, so posting on a single website of my own would not be good for SEO.
