   I want to chat about crafts. I'm no expert:) I make things I like, not to sell something. But I want to share romantic craft ideas. So come on, are there any?

      Hey Betty! Don't tell anyone but I craft all the time. When I was in college I made gemstone jewelery and did little craft shows all over the area. Now I primarily do it for gifts and for us. I mostly do wood working and I like to refinish old furniture and give alittle twist. I made my family wind chimes from things I found after Hurricane Ike for Christmas. I like to look for odd little things when traveling and incorporate them into projects. I'm not an artist either but I like to play with my crafts!

   I use to make them little bells on a silk cord for my sons teachers for Christmas. Also have chokers and bracelets which my sons run off with and give away. Good thing I can make more, lol

   i feel the same about the jewellery that i make. i have one permanent customer, but all i get from her is grief - my 13 year old daughter. she always asks if what i'm making is for her or tries to otherwise claim it for herself. i don't know how romantic it is, but most of the jewellery that my partner wears was made by me.  he has one necklace that he wears everyday and when the wire wears out, he comes home all upset because he can't wear it.

   I learned how to crochet as a teenager. However, now I only have patience to make is a granny square baby blanket. I wanted to learn how to quilt, but I only got as far as making a lining for the blanket. I would love how to do other crafts.

      I have been a crafter for a long time.  I like to crochet clothing and accessories (scarves, hats, etc.)  I also am learning to quilt.  It really helped me to take a class to learn quilting.  I also make jewelry which I sell a few times per year.  We have a small group of women who get together every few months and craft together.  It's a really nice way of connecting with other women.

   I actually knit and crochet many items during fall and winter time. Beanies and scarves are very easy to make. I also used to make stencils for spraying on shirts.

   I'm from Alaska and we are known to save projects for winter, when there's nothing to do. I dabble in many crafts, too. I sew. quilt, knit, crochet, make jewelry, make baby blankets, cook and make my own dog food and treats.
   
   I love to do crafty things, and this weekend I'm selling my sourdough ornaments at a holiday craft sale. I never make a lot of money, but it sure is fun!
   
   Edited to say: I am from Alaska, but I do not live there now. Just to clear that up.

   I too love to craft. Am always fiddling with something. I am planning to make some wall art with old book covers, sort of collages, for Christmas gifts so need to get busy with that! May write an article about it too. We'll see.

   I'm 6'2" and have always been large- muscular for most of my life but right now just fat. I never publicized it but I always loved making pottery and doing sculpture though I never perused it to any degree. Would that come under the heading of craft?

    Though I'm a painter I do sew a little, I can cross-stitch, and learned that stamp embossing trick, hehe.
    
    I am definitely open to crafty stuff like knitting, crotchetting, sewing, etc. but my patience is limited. :s

    For many years I crocheted every day. I am allergic to the wool in most yarns, so I use string. My ex-husband used to tease me that one of my table cloths could cover our whole trailer. I haven't done this in a while and will probably put my spare time in this for a while but it is comforting to know its still there when I get back to it.

    I absolutely love knitting... I knit almost every day (even in the summer) It is fun and relaxing and you get "designer" stuff

       That make's two of us.  I collect things - fir cones, acorns, dried flowers, twigs, old Christmas decorations - you name it I collect it! and arrange and glue them on board, finally spraying them to look antique, funky or jazzy.  Make good wall hangings, large or small!

    I love to knit, too. All summer I knit scarves and give them to the foster child association in fall when they ask for warm clothing. I only know one stitch, but I use it a lot!

    I do a variety crafting and artsy things. Lately I do more glass work - sand blasting design in glass and hand painting. I also sandblast photographic image into glass and frame it - I call them permanet photos Holly

    I am just a copycat...if I see it I can draw it so then after that I am a pyro  I love woodburning...
    I have totally MADE two quilts but only dare to macine wash one...the last one
    I also do freee hand embroidery...again, if I can copy the picture I can draw it..then I sew/embroider any stitch I want to into the picture...tons more fun than the stamped embroidery
    
    and counted embroidery is pretty
    but i think one must know how to count to do that??? hahaha

    I love *love* crafts...I'm particularly into the needle work type. I love counted cross stitch and am attempting my smallest stitch size to date (28). I've dabbled in hardangar and blackwork, and I've been trying to get the hang of tatting (old-fashioned lace making with either needles or shuttles).
    
    I also love to crochet and am working on an enormous afghan...I just don't have the time I want to do the things I love. I wish I had a remote that could pause the passage of time; I would stop things for three or four hours a day just to craft...LOL.
    
    It's great to see so many people interested in different beautiful crafty ways of expression!
    
    BTW: I thought the thread title was neat, "Whose not an artist..." I have felt that I was "not an artist" for most of my life, but my S.O. insists that I am an artist, and that even though there are patterns my own talent and improvisation skills are involved.
    
    Maybe it was just a line to attract me (or something to make me feel good about myself)--if so, it worked--but I began thinking maybe he has a point. LOL

    I know a few things I like to do to pass the time. I started making my own jewelry a few years ago and make it to sell, for gifts when I'm poor and loads of other things. You can bead anything - silver wire around a plain looking candlestick holder, holders for your cutains, if you were setting tables for a wedding you could bead centrpieces or again with the silver wire around the bottom of the glasses. I have worked in the performance industry for a while now and I'm also quite handy at building sets and painting scenery. I also juggle handmade juggling balls occasionally, make balloon animals, and even though I'm no artist I love photography and using pastels! I love to craft me...

       I always thought of myself as an artist, did a degree in graphic design, but I love to make things, at the moment I'm making beaded jewellery using sea glass and sea washed ceramics found on my local beaches. I've sold a fair bit but over a longish period. I had two quite successful Christmas craft fairs but then the venue decided not to run them any more as I was the only one selling anything! Embarrassing, need to find another outlet, got lots of online stuff like Misi and Etsy, but not a lot of sales yet, trouble is you have to spend so much time promoting you don't get time to make!

       you could if you would.  I mean if you try you'll probably succeed.  Try to start making a crib for next Christmas, quietly in your garage or somewhere.  I have step by step instructions in my Hubs.
