How far would you go to step out of your box?

   What gets you out of your box?
   
   Riding a zip line through the high canopy of a rain forest?
   
   Dressing up like Madonna and writhing around on stage while singing "Like a Virgin" to 2,000 people while vacationing on a cruise ship?
   
   Having an authentic experience on a small Mexican island by renting a house there and doing as the locals do even if it means there will be cockroaches in the shower, and periods of no running water?
   
   Taking a snow boarding lesson?
   
   Dancing with a cross dresser at a gay bar?
   
   Kissing a total stranger, passionately?
   
   Taking a spontaneous trip to somewhere you've never been?
   
   I have done all of the above, but I want to know how far YOU would go to leave your comfort zone and experience the thrills of life.
   
   Would you run naked through a crowd?
   Would you go to Africa alone?
   Would you swim with sharks?
   Jump out of a plane?
   Wax every hair off your entire body?
   
   Tell me, how far would you go?

         I believe anything that makes you uncomfortable, challenges you, is out of your norm, is outside the box.  Everyone's box is different, so you can't say I haven't gone outside my box unless you are familiar with the box I've been in.
         
         Now you've got me curious, how would you define "outside the box"?

      Haha, I love your attitude and I agree with you. Why should a person have to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, or off a very high bridge with an elaborate elastic band around their ankles to prove to whomever that they are expressing 'personal growth'. Are they growing or following like sheep?

   For me to go outside of my Box, I would just have to do everything I wanted to do inside the Box I was already in, to make the box appear to be everything it currently isn't.

         One of my friends did that about 10 years ago, and inspired me to take a chance. She's now a lighthouse keeper on the Texas coast, and having the time of her life. Just do it! Speaking from experience, you won't miss any of your stuff, and will feel such a sense of freedom. And don't listen to all those people who tell you to stop being crazy and "take some Valium and get over it." That is an actual quote from one of my "friends." Create the life you want now -- you won't regret it.

            I like my box, and I like my stuff.  I let my mind out to wander on a regular basis.  In the meantime, I get to keep my stuff.  It works well for me.

         I've been on a 10-year reinvention cycle through my whole life. Secretary, bartender, paralegal, lawyer, writer -- I don't know what's next, but I'm ready for any new adventure.

         I moved from Fort Worth, Texas to London. Spent two years there working as a bartender, nanny, and writer. I'm back in Texas now, practicing law again, and getting my visa sorted out so I can move back to London permanently. I just wish I had done this years ago, instead of plodding along the expected path. I know many people need the security and certainty of their box, and that's great for them. But it isn't for me, and I'm just sorry it took so long for me to figure that out.

    Life is a very full adventure.  I don't know that it is boxed in, except by the boundaries I have chosen to live in.  I am happy with these boundaries, they remind me of the yellow lines down the middle of the road in the purposes they serve.

       That was back in my carefree college days.  The kiss was exhilerating, but things were awkward every time we would run into each other at the campus exercise facility.  Still, I have no regrets.

    I sang in karaoke bars with lots of audience, I always do that now, before cant even sing infront of mirror in the bathroom, but once I did that, cant stop, when I sing, it is for myself, and I dont mind the audience anymore..
    
    I asked a man in the crowd some foolish question in order to get his attention.....and then I asked his permission to kiss him on the cheek, he was so embarassed lol, red cheeks, never thought a man can have red cheeks.....
    
    I asked a man to date me, but didnt materialize because I learnt he is married
    
    it is a good feel when you do something which you really want to do but the mores and expectation wouldnt let you...

    This isn't nearly as daring as you all have written, for me, a huge step.  I am/was/recovering agoraphobic (afraid to leave home because of panic attacks), yesterday I drove to the corner store, about 1.5 miles away by myself, for the first time in 1 1/2 years - It was freeing!!!
    
    If my hubby lands a job in Vermont, that will be a big step out of my box!

    the box doesn't have to be any momentous adventure, it can be as freeing as changing a thought, attempting to understand something you don't agree with (because of lack of knowledge), doing anything out of routine.
    
    I would be thrilled to see more people tolerant of others. 
    
    for my adventure? I flew to Paris alone to visit a friend and spend time in France. I was very AWARE we were flying over an ocean!!!! and I made it!! and it was a life changer.

    I like to challenge myself and try new things, last night I went to the remains of a local church, at night, in the dark. I was really scared but it was so much fun and it gave me a whole new perspective on the place.

    I once got on a plane to Lisbon and decided not to take the return journey.
