selfless for your children, setting a good example, sacrificing for the welfare of yuor children, it takes a lot and a lifetime...
Mistakes. It's the only way to know what not to do the next time. Children don't come with direction, and neither do mothers. Don't expect to be perfect, there is no such thing, anyway. Just do the best you can, and know that you will raise beautiful human beings
i will like to thank every body for the answers they've given. i think i will make a hub on this in future but before then read this little right up on mother on a mission . i think it will help to know your responsibility as a mother :
Motherhood is an assignment from God. It is a privileged assignment that God gave to women. From the day a woman gave birth to a baby, from that day, the woman has started her assignment.
A mother on a mission is a mother carrying out effectively the assignment God gave to her. If you become a success in your career, and you fail in your home, you are a failure. There are core assignments and there are effective assignments. The major assignment of a woman is to train her children. Proverbs 10:1{ Pro 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son is the sorrow of his mother. } A foolish son is foolish due to the inability of his mother to teach him. Proverbs 29 : 15 { Pro 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother. }
A child that is left to alone because his mother is running after contract will eventually bring shame to his mother. The dignity of a woman is in carrying out the assignment God gave her. Don’t live your child for a man to take care. Your career can’t make you to be fulfilled, it your child that will make you.
Proverbs 31:1 { Pro 31:1 The words of King Lemuel, the prophecy which his mother taught him. }
DO WE STILL HAVE MOTHER WHO TAKES TIME TO TEACH THEIR CHILDREN OR WHO TAKES TIME TO FOCUS ON THEIR CAREER?
i think caring about whether one is a good mother or not is a good start. one thing most women, sadly, don't even consider.
i think once kids get older that is one thing that sticks out, whether they can look back and feel that their mom did 'the best they could.'
an understanding that once you have children your life will change, maybe not as drastically or horribly as some would have you believe but it seems anymore girls are on the opposite end of that spectrum thinking their kid is just along for the ride. lol thats hardly good parenting!
making important decisions and lifestyle changes with the children's wellbeing FIRST and not second...or last.
pmccray, i can say, i could use a little more patience but does that make or break a good mom?
i think too that some people think the world is coming down when a human mother makes a very human mistake...then again there are plenty of moms that use that as an excuse to be a crappy mom.
Patience, understanding , and some more patience and understanding , even if you dont understand , damn it ya better
Right off hand I'd say number one is, a mother needs to be a woman of the female variety.
--Next time cook your spam before eating, it will kill all viruses!
I think it's a good question still. I asked that myself many times. The ability to listen and to hear what is not said but what you see and anticipate if you understand what I mean, and help your children feel loved and wanted and a lot of other things!
In my opinion, a good mother, as well as a good father, provides for their children's basic needs. They also prepare them to be ready for bigger responsibilities. This means that they should also be a good disciplinarian and example to their kids. They should know how to distinguish wants from needs and when they should give it. But there is really no perfect parents in this world.
Have a great week!
Love and self-love a mother experiences will spill out onto her children.
always listen, set boundries and enforce, teach simplicity and live a humble life, always have a spare hug handy...oh and a sucker.
You ask yourself three questions:
1) Is anything on fire?
2) Is anyone naked?
3) Is anyone bleeding?
If you can look at your kids and answer 'no' to two out of three, then congratulations--You are a good mother.
Patience, patience and more patience. You'll need patience to get through the terrible twos and the terrible teens.
Lots of love and patience when your kid morphs into a hormonal stranger at thirteen and doesn't want to be seen with you in public.
Patience to soothe the scapes and bruises of your toddler and patience to try and understand how you gave birth to a moron in their teens.
Your patience will turn to happiness when you watch them as an adult and you see that it was all worth while. But know your limitations...that's why I only had one!
To be a good mother? Is a mother, who is there for her children. Supports them with their positive endeavors, helps them to learn responsibility. Learning to guide and direct them, to make good choices in life. How to learn from our mistakes, and to avoid making the same ones, two or three times.
Spending time with them, in areas that interest them:)
being a good mother is to accept each child for what he or she is, not insisting that they fit your standards of perfection or behavior and NEVER ever comparing one child with another...
Being a good mother is accepting that you are not perfect and you will make mistakes as a mother. It is seeing your children as individuals and accepting them for who they are. A good mother teaches her children how to win and how to lose, and a good mother lets her children teach her about what is really important in life.

Should moms stay home with their kids? I think they should . It's better for the family in my opinion. At least until they are in school full time. The American family is falling apart, and mothers working and dumping kids off in daycare is part of the problem. Absentee dads is also a huge problem...

Refusing to learn the language: is this fair to her children?The family of my son's friend are from Mexico and have lived here approximately seven years. The father speaks a little English, the kids speak it well, but the mother speaks none; in fact she refuses to learn it. In conversation, she has...
