I agree with you 100% I have had a dogs ever since I was a little boy and can never live with out one. Today I have 4 loving dogs and I would be lost without them. They are my children and would do almost anything for them. Having dogs in my life are very important.

I totally agree. My two cats are like my kids. A lot of people don't understand that and think it's weird.... I just hate to hear of pets being brought back to the shelter, or abandoned, etc. because people finally realize that pets are a lot of work and need a lot of attention.

Very true, people should consider getting a pet carefully, and when they do try to adopt from a rescue centre. It's such a shame to see the animals facing being put down because someone bought them on impulse.

I got my first pet last October. She was a two month old stray. The best thing that has every happened to me. I'm celebrating her 1st. birthday in August. I don't know what I'm going to get her. Maybe a large stretching post or tree house. I want to train her to do more tricks besides kissing, chasing and fetching balls. I'm talking about my Kitten.

People warned me about owning a pet. How it cost money and etc. I have had much problem yet. Buy food is about $10-20 a month. Buying litter is about $10-15 a month. You can get pet get cheap medical services with ASPCA.

I don't feed her a lot of wet food and she only drink water. My pet is active and very intelligent. Well behave. She sits on my lap on trains and people are shocked. I don't think pets are as hard to take care of. Maybe dogs, because they make a lot of noise and are needy. My cat can be pretty needy, she follows me everywhere; but she also likes her space.

The cost of taking care of a cat shouldn't be more than $50 a month, the most. I don't know about dogs.

I really respect all the comments I am seeing.

I grew up a dog guy and never really lived with a cat. When I got married my wife introduced me to cats. It since has been cool to see the uniqueness of each one. Everyone has it's very own personality and style.

Cleaning the hair can be a pain, but I'm getting used to it.

I agree with the adopting or rescueing. I never really thought about the issue much, although when you do think about it rescueing is much more morally sound then breeding and selling. Breeders don't see that there creating more living individuals that might not get a proper home and leaving those already on this world going hungry and homeless.

So for your ladies and guys who rescue and adopt, this military guy salutes you. I pray more people out there do the same.

Definitely agree with the above. I can't tell you how many people I've heard say, "well, my new apartment wouldn't let me have my dog, so I got rid of him."

What?! If someone said you can't move in this apartment if you have kids, I'd be like, well, guess I'd better find a new apartment then.  Not the other way!
