Before 2009 ended, I put up my own blog site and I'm really glad I did. Just this hour, I posted my first blog on that site. I just need to ask some of my fellow hubbers to give me feedback about the site. You can be as brutal, as frank, as honest as you want, I don't really mind.

By the way, just two things.

    (1) please don't mind the Filipino words on the first blog.

    (2) How do I replace the blog roll on the right side? It's driving me crazy. smile

Here's the site's URL (hope HP Admin doesn't snip the address, please, please, please HP Admin) - http://www.emievill.com/

    Thanks in advance!

Log in to your Wp dashboard. Click on widgets in the appearance tab on the left side of your dashboard. Remove or add stuff to your sidebar.

Nice blog, would be nice if you select an appropriate theme for it. There are many free themes on the internet which will suite your niche.

I like the way you set up the blog and that you are writing on something that is in your area of expertise, instead of being blogger number gadzillion writing on sex or what do women want from men bla, bla...

When it comes to content itself, I think you're making valid points. Maybe a couple of them are repeating the same stuff about taxes, etc.

Btw me and my buddies from B-school like to say 'accountants are cheap labor'. I'm not sure that you want to add that point though.smile

@Diskobolos, thanks. Re: the taxes, that's the main concern here that's why I emphasize it. We're so afraid of that term smile. Uhm, on the accountants are cheap labor, hmmmmmm, hope not but it's true. But I'm not going to add it because it might give the reader the wrong idea and my fellow accountants might be suing me for publicly declaring it lol

Hey UH, hope the referral goes to you smile. That's the thing about the widgets, there's no "blogroll" in it. It was already there when I set up the theme. On the themes, I'm sort of taking my time on this but I will definitely search for an appropriate one smile. Thanks!

lol... yes it went to me like I said in the email. This theme is also not bad. Good for a serious mature kind of site like yours.
Rite, maybe blogroll is not included in my themes.

Hey UH, I found it. St@pid me. It's in the links-link categories smile. Now I'm thinking if I'll delete all of them. Thanks for the comment on the theme but I'm still looking. There are about 300 themes here, I'll easily get lost lol

    1) Change your permanent links to /category/post-name instead of post ID. This is better for the search engines.
    2) The blog roll can be replaced with another widget (apperance>widgets in wp-admin), or removed completly.
    3) Remove the ads from the sidebar, and put ads at the beginning of each post, and a "skyscraper ad block" on the left side. This will lead to a higher clickthrough rate.

    smile

It's been a while since i used Google Adsense with WP, but what you need to to is find a plugin that displays adsense. It should display ads within the posts, and I recommend that you blend the color scheme of your adsense block with your regular links. This can be done through the the Adsense control panel@Google. Some of the plugins also does this for you.

There are several different plugins heres:

above comments are good, also do some minor blending to the adsense block, ie get rid of the green and match fonts with teh rest of your content

Hello Emie - Congratulations on getting your blog up and running.  That's one of your New Years goals ticked off !!!
I really like your fresh looking page.  It looks most professional.
I have a couple of other points you may want to consider  - might you save your clients money, interest costs etc?  If so that would be a good thing to stress.
I know that you've chosen to highlight 8 points and there are many more but I also wonder if you could add in that accountants are specialists in their field so will have in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the taxation system.  Just a thought.
I read your first sentence three times to understand what you were saying - perhaps its just me and holidayitis!
As this is for professionals I'd eliminate the tehe's etc.  Your wonderful sense of humor will still shine through.
Hope this is of use to you and my comments are minor.  Overall this is fantastic.

Hey travelespresso, you're right. One resolution under way smile.

Sorry about the confusion. Some words are in Filipino as I'm trying to have it included in a list of Filipino blogs and also to give a more local 'flavor' to my blog.

I forgot about the LOl and the 'hehehe's' big_smile. Definitely removed them when I saw your point. Thanks for the advise.
