What if I deny a fan request?

Just a curiosity question. If a receive a fan mail, which for some odd reason I don't what to accept it and I click "deny" button, what happens? Will the hubber who sent the message receive a note "C.V.Rajan has declined your fan request"? Oh! That will be embarrassing. Can anyone clarify what really happens?

I reject fan mail regularly. If all a person can say is that they want me to fan them back I just deny and delete it.

No, they will not be notified. smile So nothing really happens. I doubt people would notice that you didn't accept their fan mail.

C.V.  It's not actually a fan issue I'm addressing but just as much of a concern since it just happened before reading this thread... I deny'd my first comment.  I really gave it a lot of thought since I believe everyone should have their say but the whole process was just past the point of annoying.  The comment said nothing except that the reader loved someone else's version.  I'd have left it except, the reader then immediately went out and wrote an article in direct competition - I'd still have left it but the other hub is poorly written, maybe 200 words in total and all over just something I could never have recommended.

I am thrilled to be part of a community that is so professional and upbeat and while I will defend the reader's right to publish the hub to the end, I am not duty bound to help promote it in my hub. Thus I deny'd the comment.  It wasn't something I thought I'd ever do.

No notification, but in hubtivity it says something along the lines - "you became the fan of XYZ and left the fanmail that was not approved."

I just had a look at my own hubitivity and saw my latest fan and here's what it said:

Feather Touch is now following you and left you fan mail which you have approved.

Now I've gone and denied that message and now it says (on both my hubitivity and his)...

Feather Touch is now following you and left you fan mail which you have denied.

And then I log out and check those pages again...

Feather Touch is now following darkside

So I've got no idea what the other person sees. I may have to leave someone some fan mail and have them deny it so I can see what it says.

I left you some fan mail. But it's not showing up in your hubtivity. I suspect we won't be seeing it because it'll be grouped with my fanning of you over a year ago.

But deny it anyway, I'll see if I get a chance to do it again (and make it more meaningful this time).

Just did. But it likely showed in hubtivity quite a while ago, cause I believe it is tied to the time of "fanning", and not to the time of leaving/accepting a fanmail. I think you can try to de-fan and re-fan, or use one of your sock puppets to get the exact answer smile

C.V. Rajan, you are a very kind, considerate, courteous and respectful person... but it is fine to ignore something that is not  respectful.

No reason to be embarrassed, you are not being critical, you are merely witholding your endorsement of something that you would not say.

Thanks Rochelle for your kind words, but I wonder whether I am truly so! I am generally sharp when I decide to criticize something sad

      Hi,

It looks you have denied that opportunity to me?

I do the same as darkside.  I immediately reject anyone who fanned me just so that I would fan them back.

I dont especially like someone asking me to fan them back, but I don't reject their comment, and I don't automatically not fan them back. I tend to look at some of their work and if I like it, I may or may not fan them back there and then, depends what all is happening and what I have going on at the time.
I try to remember to return at a future date to their hub to fan them if I liked what I read.
And If I don't like what I read, well no I don't fan them.

IzzyM very sensible approach, cyber space is too big for people to be rejecting others....people just want to feel included, include them, stop with exclusion and start with inclusion, let us all be as one....lets join hands together and sing that song usually sung around camp fires....jing gang gooley gooley ging gang goooo, stop being so serious about everything every one.....lets reach out beyond out self imposed barriers...help...encourage...share...be as one smile
