Hello
I am still teetering on the edge of purchasing BANS - can anyone tell me if they have actually turned a profit with it?
Many thanks, Alison
I think Embitca had a good experience with it. Try to find her hub on ebay affiliates.
Lissie had a good go at it, too, I think - and possibly Marisa.
Marisa tried it but when to phpbay I think in the end. I am still using BANS and the sales trickle in - I have to push it a bit more.
Some history: there were a lot of "thin affiliate" BANS sites put up on info domains which google deindexed - including mine - but people who use yahoo buy too Mine will get reincluded but I need to tidy them up a bit and ask for the reinclusion
You are therefore better off with a com domain: even more better off :-) with a pre-owned com domain
You cant do specific country based searches with BANS so if you specifically want to promote non-ebay US ebay sites then look elsewhere.
The software itself is pretty easy to use but remember your point in using it is not to produce a pretty website: it is to get people to click thru to ebay :-)
I also have BANS and it's very easy to use, I must say that. Lissie is right in saying to go with .com or .net domains, if you do go in that direction. I have sales trickling in as well. I've paid off the BANs software and the domains I have purchased, and BANS pays for the hosting every month. It's a start. I've had the software for about 4 months now.
If you think this is get rich quick think again. BANs will only work if you put effort into it. I would be doing better if I would get off my butt and update my sites more often. From what I've seen on the BANs boards it really takes a good 12 months to make your income decent, and only then if you are prepared to work at it.
Make sure you have joined up with ePN before you get the software as well. Use HubPages to get your affiliate number if you have not already done so. Getting into the US program is a lot harder now than it once was, and there has been more than one person who has purchased the software only to be rejected by ePN.
Good point hovalis: Ive been a member of eBay for so long, courtesy of Hubpages! At least you can get your money back for BANS within 60 days if you do it the wrong way around!
Thanks for all your replies.
I have just started using the phpBay lite version - just to see how easy it is and so far I have been very impressed, so it may be that I upgrade that way - but will run with it for a bit to see how the sites go.
Thanks again.
Midnighteden, Lissie is right that I started out with BANS then switched to phpBay.
The thing with BANS is that it's first and foremost a storefront, to which you can add some simple content. That didn't work for me, because I wanted to create a site with meaningful content plus a shop, rather than the other way around. I've written a couple of Hubs about my experience if you're interested.
I tried out BANS for awhile. I used mostly .info's and they were deindexed as well...I made a few dollars here and there. I think if I had used all .coms and been much more dedicated I would have done much better. I had one for Fraggle Rock Toys that was doing pretty good in the beginning. I have since closed my web hosting account..
I don't have a long attention span so maintaining was not for me. I'm much better at creating a single article about a topic and then being able to walk away. (which is why I'm here)..

Are the ultimate truths outside ourselves or are we better off listening to what arises from within?Should we be guided by books and others, or are we better off fine tuning those inner whispers and feelings to lead the way?

I have recently embarked on the journey of therapy (again) and this time, I can see my codependency loud and clear. I just left a relationship with a narcissist. Overall, I am proud of myself for finally starting to make decisions that are healthy for me in the area of relationships. Of course, I...

Many conservatives seem to feel that government is a bad thing. I personally don't agree, but maybe some of you really want to live in a world where the strongest and best armed can take what they want, without repercussions. If you are one of those, please speak up.

Do you believe that we are better off with Obama or better off without him and why?
