   I just received an email from Stumbleupon that I've been banned for the time being for overpromotion or something, and am wondering if this is just happening to me?  I've only used it for promotion of my hubs 24 times in five months and none of recently. 
   
   I don't have a business, product, or service that I am promoting.  I don't send any emails or spam, so I don't get it.  Don't really understand the whole social promotion part of this anyway, so mostly just concentrating on writing the best hubs that I can.  Can someone enlighten me on what I did wrong?

   Yes, you did not read their TOS that I believe clearly states you cannot stumble your own webpages.
   
   Thank you for contributing to HP being banned from Stumbleupon altogether.

   Ouch!  I read it as a newbie on hubpages but misunderstood something in hubs others were writing on how to use such sites.  Only used it a few times in those early days before I realized that I needed to understand a whole lot more about this whole aspect in writing online.  Haven't used it in months personally.

   What is interesting, I went there and tried to find this place in their TOS - but failed
   
   So I guess they either changed the TOS so it's not that obvious, or I don't remember correctly.
   
   Either way, it is always safer to assume that you are not allowed to promote your own pages, until you know otherwise. As for SU, you can always open another account using different email address, and be more careful - means mixing your own pages with pages from OTHER DOMAINS, other pages making the vast majority of your stumbles...
   
   It works pretty good with other WEB2 services, too

      I remember having a big problem even finding their TOS in the first place, let alone finding the clause about self-promotion - but I did track it down eventually.  I have to say, if they make it so hard to find out what the rules are, they have a cheek expecting people to abide by them.

   Thanks!  More on the senior citizen side, the learning curve on all of the more technical part of all of this is sometimes challenging for me.  What I love about hubpages is that I learn every day, so much from everyone else.  When I started out writing here, I'd never heard of SEO, TOS, etc.  Find that by reading both hubs and forum discussions that it helps a lot in learning the do and don't of it all.

   Also try stumbling only your best hubs, or those that you worked the hardest on. I don't stumble often, but when I do, I only do select hubs. But, you'll need a new account since they've banned your current one.

      I have found that if you join a group of friends that you send your page to them asking politely for a stumble, good or bad as it makes no difference. You do it by using the SU toolbar.
      
      I agree that you mix the sites up that you stumble. You are indeed very unlucky to have been banned.  I do exactly what your doing but probably twice to three times a day. I would recommend replying to the email confessing your naivety and ask for re-instatement.
      
      Otherwise, use one of many other aliases and go for it again. If your interested I wrote a nice hub on SU that works quite well.
      
      Ideally, and I do this all the time on all my pages, write a three hundred word article, submit it to searchwarp and stumble that article. You will achieve far greater results with targeted traffic and gain some very valuable backlinks.

   Had no idea that we can't stumble our hubpages, good to know because I stumbled one of my hubs a few months ago, but let stop using it because my computer freezes when I sign on their website.
