I am utterly convinced that we shall never again see a truly limited government. As power corrupts so does absolute power corrupt absolutely. Our Presidents demand more power. Our Congress legislates new power ignoring the will of the people. Our courts interpret new powers. Sooner or later a choice must be made. Which is more important to us: our Freedom or our security.
-“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
When will we decide that no sacrifice is too great in order to bring peace and freedom back to these united states.
-“The founders would be ashamed of us for what we’re putting up with.”
Are we so tied to our money, retirement, and investments that we will ignore every usurpation of our liberty? Is not liberty the most important trait that defines us as a nation?
-“Those who would give up essential liberties for temporary security deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Can we not expose the lies of those in power who would disguise horrendously unconstitutional acts as “patriotic” or “necessary”? Is not dissent the greatest form of patriotism? Lately we have come to accept all these acts as necessary for our safety. It is the slow slide that eventually leads to the downfall of the American Empire. Historians will look to this age as the age of materialism that led to the numbing of the people to their own values.
-“Tricks and treachery are the practice of fools that don’t have brains enough to be honest..”
We would much rather sit in our chairs and complain about how terrible society has become without ever actually doing anything. We are much more comfortable on the sidelines than in the limelight. That is because in the limelight every imperfection shines and people are afraid of looking at themselves.
-“One, with courage, makes a majority.”
The world sees our hypocricy. They see that we claim to be the world’s last, best hope. Yet at the same time we support dictators and send money to nations with human right’s records that are simply horrible. What credibility is there in that? They used to see us as the world’s rescuer of freedom. We liberated Europe, twice. We liberated Cuba in 1898. We spread Freedom to every corner of the world. Yet today we support extremist leaders in China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and the future Soviet Union. We are even keeping our mouth silent as Iran tightens its grip in the Middle East. How could anyone believe us when we announce that we are spreading democracy?
-“Liberty when it begins to take root is a plant of rapid growth.”
We must realize that what is right and true must take precedence over personal reputation. We used to breed leaders that cared more for the benefit of their country than their own pocket books. We bred statesmen. We bred leaders. We bred great men and women who stormed the gates of the enemy and brought true freedom to the people. Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe. They were the last great leaders our nation had. They believed that the Federal government was good only for keeping the peace. Everything else was to be left to the states and the people. What could be more important?
So what will we do? Will we continue to sit and watch our nation crumble before our very eyes? We’ve seen that the end of every great empire in history is precipitated by the collapse of the currency. Rome, Byzantium, England, Ottoman, Russian, and the Soviet Empire. Every one of those empires collapsed because the currency depreciated to where they lost the respect of their enemies and soon collapsed. Our nation has begun that slow, steady decline. I fear the people are numb. We must get out of our house and fight like nation depends on it, as, I assure you, it very much does. No course could be too extreme.
We are the greatest nation in the world. We must live with the humility that greatness requires, the confidence that it inspires, and the fortitude the enemies reviles.
Restore the Republic.
A little out of date and tarnished beyond recovery I am afraid. You sold it all and now have to borrow to buy back some semblance of respectability. I wish America well, but until you control your psychotic right tendencies you will not recover.
Nicely stated.
"Which is more important to us: our Freedom or our security?" For me the answer is FREEDOM.
I second all of this!
Very well written.
Restore the Republic!
The most important thing on earth is....you!
YOU will never exist again!
YOU had better be concerned with "self" and enjoy this singular life to the max!
All else is ancillary!
When you leave, you will be quickly forgotten.
You were but an ephemeral happening of absolutely no value to anyone or anything but yourself.
YOU must live like YOU believe that YOU are the most important thing that exists....because YOU ARE!
coke is the most important thing - coca cola that is
The most important thing on earth is air, water and the warm sun. Next is the freedom to enjoy those things!!
Believe me I do not subscribe to any particular political party. I believe both parties have tarnished America and destroyed our reputation so that there is no going back.
You want a summary of my post? I say it would be to wake up and decide that action is more valuable than inaction. Now more than ever it is important that we get off our couches and take our country back, however that may be.
Alexius, some of us have been trying to do just that in different ways for many years now! So I ask you Alexius, are you going to lead the charge?
I'm in the Army now. When I get out of here I have every intention of, one day, running for office. But I've been told I'm too honest to be a politician. We shall see.
The short answer is, "No, we will not do anything." Because, just like those other empires, this one will fall apart too for all the reasons you gave. Yes, people DO value their retirement and security more than their liberty, because not enough people are having their liberty violently violated. It's little things and they grow used to it. Status quo.
It will have to decay a lot further before people get off their asses and do something about it. And our ability to "throw off such Government" has been taken from us because the left has been waging war on our right to bear arms and we cannot own weapons suitable to doing so anymore.
They have already done more in taking away the right to bear arms than most people know.
If I heard correctly; for several years now the ammo that is sold to the public has a shelf life of approx 12 months.
When the retail supply for ammo. is cut off 12 months later the guns turn into baseball bats.
Don't you have the means to make your own ammo? All my family got their ammo from my uncle who bought the components and loaded his own ammo. Much cheaper when we used to do a lot of shooting during rabbit or fox plagues.
I don't see how one would be able to shorten the shelf life of ammo other than to have the explosive degrade. I have never seen that other than ammo getting wet.
My dad reloaded for about 20 years, then my brother inlaw took over. Ammo is still stored for years as far as I know, and if it was not so, a lot of ammo would be returned for refund.
Where we lived, we had small .410 bore and twelve gauge shotguns, .22 .327 .303 rifles with light and heavy loads that covered what we needed to cull.
Over a year or 2 We would not know which ammo would be used first. It would depend on the animals we needed to cull, often some of our ammo would be 10 years old. No de-waxing or distortion, no loss of fire power or misfired caps. Keep it dry, keep it cool is all that is required as far as I know.
The most important thing on Earth?
The collective resilient strength of the human species.
It's true our weapons are under attack, ironically enough. But we need to do something to steal back our country.
Yes family is hugely important. It is from the values we were raised with that OUR values are derived, and the successive attack on our families has destroyed our morals as a society. Fathers leave home. Mothers let TV raise their kids. Everything is contributory to our degradation.
We must do something. I have a few ideas that cannot be shared on here, also because of my job in the Army. But make no mistake, something must, and will, be done to save our country. 200 years ago they were called traitors by their Royal government. Today we call them Patriots. What will people call us in 200 years?

The most important thing you should consider over anything else is how you treat others. It's great to find God, but it's more important to just BE A GOOD PERSON. It's what everyone should strive for first. Not money. Not beauty. Not knowledge. At the end of the day, all you really have is what you...

Which is more important, freedom of faith or freedom of speech? Many religious folks are decent, good people. Some of my best friends subscribe to institutionalised superstition - and are good humored enough to let me say that without taking offense. But most religions per se enshrine some deeply...

I hear people talk about their individual freedom and how it has been so severely curtailed here in the U.S. This comes from all political points of view, particularly libertarian and the right, but also from the left.I am interested in hearing what individual freedom you personally have not...
