The Hobbit Plush Toys From Funko - Plushies Release Dates, Prices

Updated on April 16, 2012

On this page we are taking a look at the new Hobbit Plush Dolls from Funko. We will check out these new toys, look at the release dates, prices and of course where you can buy them online from. If you want to know anything about Funko Hobbit Plush Dolls then this page should tell you everything you need to know.

In the December of 2012 Tolkien fans finally get to see the release of the movie, The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey. This is the first of a two part series brought to life by director Peter Jackson. As you would expect, the hype for the films is massive. Due to all the media interest these films are causing, lots of companies are getting involved and bringing out products. We are seeing Hobbit Lego sets, Hobbit games, models, action figures and lots more things. One of the companies that have now gotten involved is Funko, they will be bringing out a series of Plush toys based on the film. So let’s take a look at them and see what Funko has in store for us.

New Hobbit Plush Dolls

So just in case you are not aware what a Plush doll or toy is, basically it’s a small soft cuddly toy. Funko are a company who specialise in a few different products, Plush toys being one of them. They also make bobble heads which they call Wobblers and a few other small figures. The vast majority of these are based on well known films or TV shows. They have hundreds of different products and nearly all of them are well known characters that the vast majority of people will be familiar with.

A few years back Funko actually brought out a range of Lord Of The Rings toys. We saw a few plush toys such as an Orc and a Frodo doll and we even got a Sauron bobble head. So it will come as no great surprise that the company behind these are yet again bringing out some Tolkien products. So in the fall we are going to be getting some Hobbit Plushies or plush dolls. We have no definite release date for these at the moment, we just know it will be in the fall. If we do get any extra information on release date we will update this page and let you know.

There is not a massive amount of information around yet about what exactly we are going to see from Funko, but at the New York Toy Fair we were treated to a preview of three new characters to be released in the fall. So as you can see from the picture, we will be getting a Bilbo Plush, Gandalf and also a Gollum one. These look really good especially the Bilbo one with it’s bright colors. No word on prices yet but you usually find you can pick these toys up for less than $20 if you shop around online.

More Hobbit Releases From Funko

As the year progresses we are expecting to see more toys released in the Hobbit series. One that would be really good would be something based on Smaug, maybe a nice little plush toy or even a bobble head. Another item that may be on quite a few people’s wish list would be some dwarf bobble heads. Can you imagine getting a full company of Dwarf bobble heads lined up, quite a sight. No doubt Funko have plenty of other ideas in the pipeline as well.

As we mentioned earlier the hype around the release of this new film is going to be huge. There are so many companies getting involved in bringing out merchandise for the film, we really are going to see some impressive stuff over the coming years. Inevitably we will probably also see some not very impressive stuff as everyone and anyone tries to make a quick buck. But for larger companies like Funko who bring out good quality toys we are sure we should be seeing some really nice products heading our way. As the year progresses we will update this page with any further details regarding release dates and new products. All we can really do now then is sit and wait for these cute little Hobbit Plush Dolls.
